Throwback to our Out-of-this-world Teachers' Day Celebration! 🛸
Helmed by our Student Planning Team from Student Council, our Multi-Purpose Hall was transformed into another cosmic world 🌠. The celebration began with our teachers who gamely dressed up according to planetary themes and strutted down the galaxy runway to take their seats! It then followed by our performing arts and Wushu CCAs putting up sizzling performances. Many other CCAs also chipped in to create appreciation videos and organised the concert to ensure it ran like clockwork. Our zany emcees were a riot and a hit with the audience! 👽 We were treated to a surprise item from the teachers too!
What is a Teachers' Day without the appreciation of our teachers? NASians recognised their teachers with awards such as Sunshine of NAS, Interstellar Inspiration, Fashionistar, and of course of our NAS Teachers of the Year 2024! Every teacher in NAS is a star! And congrats to all the award winners!
The party continued on to the classroom where the class leaders planned class parties for their teachers. They were also part of the team who designed the Teachers' Day gift. What a fun and exuberant Teachers' Day celebration, and a way to end our Term 3!
May Term 4 be as meaningful and vibrant! Let's go, NASians!
On 7 September, 13 of our Sec 3 students proudly showcased their innovative projects at STEAMunity 2024 held at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). They collaborated with students from polytechnics and junior colleges to design impactful solutions to real-world challenges like "How might we improve thermal comfort in hospital wards?" and “How might we introduce sustainable practices for the burning of offerings?".
Under the mentorship of SUTD students, our students rose to the challenge, and we congratulate them on their remarkable achievements!

On 2 August, our NASians took the spotlight at the National Junior College International Humanities Symposium (IHS), and proudly presented their research projects alongside students from other schools in Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, and Indonesia!
The experience allowed our students to exchange ideas and spark meaningful discussions with a global community of passionate young minds, based on the symposium theme - Sustainable Horizons: Nurturing Future Leaders for a Resilient World. It was a truly enriching experience, inspiring our NASians to continue growing as future-ready learners and visionary leaders on their journey toward a more sustainable world.
Swipe to see them in action during the symposium!
NAS hosted one of our long-time partner schools, Chongqing No. 2 Foreign Language School on 7 and 8 August! It was wonderful to meet up with the staff and students from our partner school again after a year!
Our Sec 2 and 3 NASian buddies took care of the students as they experienced lessons @ NAS. Through their sharing of experiences in Singapore and China, our students learnt about the similarities and differences they share between two lands. Our visitors also got to try their hands at playing the angklung, a traditional instrument. We also gave them a glimpse into Singapore’s history and development through a learning journey to the Singapore National Museum, Sir Stamford Raffles Landing Point and Merlion Park. They even managed to join NAS for our National Day Celebration!
We can't wait for our turn to go over to Chongqing and experience the school and life there!
Our Technopreneur students embarked on a learning journey to TrueWorld Studios, a leading company specialising in the development of immersive experiences and games. Through insightful sharing by the staff and engaging hands-on activities, our students learned about the software and techniques used to create 3D animation and computer-generated imagery for games. Many were amazed by the limitless possibilities that technology offers and are now inspired to explore new avenues in the world of digital innovation!
Happy 59th birthday Singapore 🇸🇬 !
Excitement was definitely in the air as NASians congregated in good weather to observe our very own National Day Parade, proudly put up by our Uniformed Groups! Spot the rainbow!
Spirit was high as the festivities continued at our NDP concert where we had our own cheerleading competition among the different levels, Masked Singer and Project Runway!
Our very own Masked Singers were a huge hit with NASians, as they tried to guess who the teachers belting their favourite NDP songs were!
The theme for this year’s Project Runway theme is Flora and Fauna. Our Sec 3 classes put their best foot forward to design and put together costumes reflecting Singapore’s flora and fauna, bringing the garden city alive and into our MPH! On the runway, we had a kingfisher, a pangolin, Vanda Miss Joaquim and many more.
And the more we’re together the further we’ll go, You and I, we’re not alone, not alone.
As our NDP song goes, it is truly a blessing to be able to stand alongside each other and celebrate the nation’s birthday together! We should cherish this blessing and not take it for granted.
Together, As One United People! Together as one NASian! Happy National Day, Singapore!
On 31 July, our NASians came together to appreciate and show their gratitude towards our Executive & Administrative Staff (EAS). Our EAS colleagues work tirelessly to ensure the smooth operations of the school, and a conducive learning and teaching environment for all of us.
In the morning, the EAS were invited to breakfast at the Common Ground that was lovingly served by our Student Councillors. It was nice to see them mingling with one another and chatting with our Student Councillors as well.
After the breakfast, the EAS joined our Morning Assembly at the Multi-purpose Hall, where our scholars showed gratitude for our Unsung Heroes through a video montage for WOW Wednesday. Our Principal also presented them with a small token of appreciation to thank them for their daily efforts and care for the school.
What would we do without our EAS? A big heart ♥️ to them and a Happy EAS Day!

We are thrilled to announce that our NASians from the Infocomm Technology (Media Production) Club have done exceedingly well to clinche the Best Headline Award and the Best Visual Award at the M:idea Fest 2024 Competition! This competition was organised by the School of Film & Media Studies at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, in collaboration with the Singapore Police Force. Participants made use of AI to design posters to help raise awareness about shoplifting in our community.
Congratulations to Matthew Loi Hao Zhe (1C1) and Atlas Ong Zhi Feng (1R2) for clinching the Best Headline Award! And a special shoutout to Ta Quang Trung (3R3) for winning the Best Visual Award!
Throwback to Youth Day 2024!
This year, NAS celebrates our youth by gifting NASians with their choice token after hearing from them, which was to drink and enjoy bubble tea with their peers!
The bonding activity was carried out during Wednesday’s LIFE lesson. Not only did the shared experience allow the classes to enjoy the sweet treat together (less sweet, healthier option), they also had a good time taking photos and creating memories as a class.
On top of receiving bubble tea, our Sec 4 and 5 graduating classes also got their second choice souvenir; a stress ball to offer some relief when needed, as they journey towards their national examinations.
Keep calm and soldier on Sec 4 & 5s!
We are delighted to announce that 2 of our NASians' work were selected for display at the 19th Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition 2024 (NAPE24), which aims to promote the Arts through fostering artistry in photography .
Our NASians are Teo Jie Qi Elyn of 1C2 and Yeo Qi Jun of 2I1, both from Photography Club. Their works were selected out of more than 700 entries, and were on display at LASALLE College of the Arts from 8 – 16 June 2024.
Keep up the great shots and capture on! 📸
Throwback to our Student Leaders’ Investiture in May! The school had the chance to learn about servant leadership from Mr Kenneth Heng, founder of Solve n+1. Mr Heng runs a community-based management consultancy that facilitates social innovation for vulnerable communities, and has worked to help various groups locally and overseas.
His inspiring keynote smoothly segwayed into our Student Leaders' Investiture, where our graduating cohort of student leaders proudly passed the baton of leadership to our Secondary 3 leaders!
To our Secondary 4/5 student leaders: Thank you for your unwavering dedication and remarkable contributions. Your mentorship, guidance, and passion have left an indelible mark on our school community. As you step down to focus on the national exams, we wish you all the best!
To our new Secondary 3 student leaders: It's your time to shine! Embrace this opportunity with enthusiasm and commitment. Lead with integrity, inspire your peers, and continue the legacy of excellence. We believe in you and are excited to see the incredible impact you will make!

"The Feasibility of SCOBY Leather as a Sustainable Leather Alternative" project also clinched the Merit Award!
Congratulations and kudos to all the SPARKS Science students!
As part of its Outreach Project, the NAS Parent Support Group (PSG) recently teamed up with the People’s Association and the Tampines East Zone 1 Residents’ Network to bring smiles and warmth to the residents of rental flats within the Northeast Community Development Council (CDC). This heartening initiative unfolded over two weeks, sparking joy and community spirit.
On 4 May, our enthusiastic parents took to the neighbourhood, distributing flyers to invite the residents to join us for a special Mother’s Day celebration on 11 May.
The celebration on 11 May was nothing short of magical. Our PSG members volunteered alongside their children to make the day unforgettable. They handed out delightful goodie bags and led residents in crafting beautiful crepe paper carnations. The air was filled with laughter and camaraderie as volunteers and residents connected, sharing stories and creating memories. Many volunteers expressed that the session was deeply meaningful, and those who brought their NAS children along found it to be a fantastic opportunity for parent-child bonding, blending fun and engagement seamlessly.
Our PSG remains passionately committed to their mission of giving back to the community. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed time, service, and support to PSG’s endeavours. We are also thankful to Northeast CDC North East Community Development Council for the goodie bags and materials for the paper carnations making. Looking ahead, PSG is excited to continue their impactful work, fostering connections and bringing positivity to the community.

How can delivery routes be planned for efficiency?
This was the question that started our Sec 3 SPARKS NASians on their research to find a set of guidelines to optimise delivery route plans. The team's project was recognised and awarded a Bronze prize at the Singapore Mathematics Project Festival 2024 organised by the Singapore Mathematical Society, on 11 May 2024. Well done, team!

On 4 May, our NAS Parent Support Group (PSG) organised a workshop on "The Five Love Languages," a useful parenting concept by Gary Chapman. The event, initiated by the MOE Parent Engagement Team and COMPASS (COMmunity and PArents in Support of Schools), aimed to empower PSG leaders with the skills to facilitate impactful workshops for their members.
The workshop was led by Ms. Karyn Yeo and Ms. Jolyn Chua, who captivated participants with their dynamic facilitation. Attendees learned how to identify and speak the love languages of their children and loved ones, unlocking new ways to strengthen their familial bonds. Adding to the richness of the experience, Mr. Eugene Seah, a trainer from the Heartfelt Connections Facilitator Workshop, joined as an esteemed guest speaker, sharing his valuable insights.
The learning didn't stop there. An Upper Secondary Parent Forum followed the workshop, buzzing with energy and eager participation. A panel of four seasoned PSG members welcomed a flurry of questions from enthusiastic parents. The knowledgeable and approachable panelists generously shared their personal journeys and strategies for guiding their children through pivotal school decisions. From navigating the transition from primary to secondary school to choosing the right subjects and preparing for post-secondary paths, the panelists' stories resonated deeply with the audience.
Parents left the forum not only with practical advice but also with a renewed sense of community and support. They discovered that the challenges and triumphs of parenting are shared experiences, and they are far from alone on this journey.
A throwback to our Chess Club's valiant fight during the Victorian Cup 2024, organised by Victoria Junior College Strategic Games Club (VJSGC) on 3 April.
Our students fought hard and achieved a 9th and 12th placing for International Chess, and 11th for Chinese Chess. We applaud the efforts and growth mindset shown by our NASians in the face of strong competitors!
Keep honing your skills as each game is a step towards growing you as a more critical thinker, resilient individual and one who is able to draw from the lessons of chess to apply to life. Its not just the destination, but the process and journey of growth that are just as important. We await your next brilliant moves on the chessboard!
In this episode of People of NAS series, we shine the spotlight on our Vice Principal, Mdm Tan Lay Gin!
Do you know what is Mdm Tan's hidden talent? Where has her journey as an educator taken her, and whose lives has she touched? What does Mdm Tan think of our NASians? Dive into the video to find out!
On 24th April 2024, we held our inaugural celebration of World Book Day in the school, with the theme 'Read Your Way'. The celebration aimed to encourage NASians to read in any shape and form. NASians were also told to write a postcard to any character from a children's book, a novel or even a comic!
On top of that, the teachers and school leaders brought books to life by dressing as various book characters while NASians had a blast guessing who they were masquerading as.
We are thankful for everyone's enthusiasm and participation. We had a lot of fun and as we conclude World Book Day 2024, you can consider yourself BOOK-ed (pun fully intended)!
Did you manage to catch our spirited girls dancing at Our Tampines Hub last weekend? We are proud to share that our school's Modern Dance Club rocked the stage at the Open Stage Dance Competition 2024!
After months of intensive training to perfect every move, our passionate dancers shone on stage, earning an impressive 4 stars out of 5 in the Open Category! But wait, the excitement doesn't stop there – they were awarded a stunning distinction of 5 stars in the fiercely competitive K-Pop Category!
None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support and guidance of their dance instructor and the encouragement from their teachers-in-charge, Mdm Hazimah and Mdm Sarimah.
Congratulations to our dancers once again!
We were honoured to welcome Mr. Josephus Tan, a criminal defence lawyer, as our esteemed guest speaker for this week's upper secondary assembly.
Through his engaging and informative talk, Mr. Tan shared with our students how laws today protect and govern behaviour in the digital realm, as technology continues to advance. During the Q&A segment, our NASians’ active participation reflected their keen interest in understanding what it means and what it takes to be a lawyer, and their deeper appreciation of the importance of being responsible for one's words and actions in the physical and virtual spheres. Time flew by quickly through the highly interactive, highly engaging session with Mr Josephus Tan, and we thank him for taking time out to join us on 22 Apr!
A shout out to our creative Parent Support Group (PSG) for always thinking of different ways to enhance NASians' learning experience!
Not only that, they have made a short video to showcase the different booths and activities that our students participated in on International Friendship Day 2024! ❤️
Enjoy the video!
NAS celebrated International Friendship Day on 17 April!
This year, we got to hear from the international students among us, and learnt about some of our neighbours through gamification and experiential learning.
During morning assembly, two NASians from Vietnam did an informative sharing about their life, culture and traditions during WOW Wednesday. Our Parents Support Group members chimed in to put up amazing canteen booths, presenting students with the opportunity to gain more exposure to some traditions and cultures of four countries - Malaysia, Brunei, Japan and Korea. Creating a wau bulan, playing the Korean omok and sampling a variety of snacks were some of the things the students got to experience. The celebration ended with each class engaging in a fun and interactive Jeopardy! game to learn more about our neighbouring countries - What is the capital of Brunei Darussalam? What is the national bird of the Philippines? Our NASians took away a deeper understanding of the cultures of various countries, and more importantly what binds and connects us - truly living out the theme of International Friendship Day!
For nearly two months, our Debate team trained diligently for the Singapore Secondary School Debate Championship (SSSDC), Division II.
Their path was challenging, requiring weeks of rigorous case preparation, simulated debates, meticulous review of past performances, and last-minute adjustments to their speeches. Their hard work and effort paid off as they advanced in their debating odyssey - reaching the Quarter Finals and placing amongst the top 8 out of 66 participating schools in the preliminary rounds. While their journey in the Quarter-Finals marked the end of this particular chapter, the team cherishes the experience, filled with countless unforgettable moments.
Being able to reach the Quarter-Finals is a testament to their dedication and perseverance! We extend our heartiest congratulations to the debaters for arriving at this significant milestone!
Have you ever had the experience of moving from point to point on a wheelchair? Or seen someone having difficulties while moving around on a wheelchair?" These were the questions Kota Neil A***n from 4R4 started his audience thinking at the IDEX 2024, when he presented his project "Neighbourhood Route Finder".
The event was organised by Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) from 25-28 March.
Working under the event theme "Technology for Humanity", A***n's project aims to help wheelchair users find the most wheelchair-friendly route when travelling from place to place within a neighborhood or complex through an assistive app he conceptualised.
Among the Singaporean teams, A***n's project was the only one selected for the final judging alongside 2 international teams. His project was eventually awarded the Silver award. Well done, A***n!!
