We wanted to send a special shoutout to Ms. Cameron, for the phenomenal job she did coordinating and executing our 2nd annual summer camp. With the assistance of Ms. Jannette, our campers had a lot of fun, added to their vocabulary, learned new skills, and went on a few adventures. Summer camp officially ended yesterday, and Ms. Cameron made sure that our campers had a memorable last day. We wish her a successful school year as a lead teacher in ACPS and plan to see her in the community!
Stay tuned for lesson plans and more information on the coming school year, which officially begins on September 5, 2024. The children's artwork will be on display in the art room and throughout the school in the coming months.

Why do schools ask parents to sign children in and out each day? While parents are ultimately responsible for getting their children to school, state and federal laws require schools to keep attendance records.
In the Montessori Classroom a child may move about freely but not run or push. He or she can talk softly and respectfully but never shout. When the child is finished with his or her work it must be returned to the shelf in proper order, and in its proper place (Oakhaven Montessori, 2024).
Did you know that the new school year begins on September 5th? Here are a few tips in preparation for the new school year.
1. Revisit your child's schedule. Schedules are oftentimes relaxed during the summer months. Begin transitioning your child to an earlier bedtime 3 weeks before the school year begins to ensure that they're ready to learn when they arrive at school.
2. Meet your child's teacher. Schedule time to chat with your child's teacher or the Head of School about the upcoming school year. Discuss any goals and objectives you might have for the next 12 months.
3. If you're re-enrolling with us, ask any questions you might have about your contract, new tuition rate, class sizes or preferred drop-off times. Policies can change over a 12-month period.
4. Get involved. Ask how you can help to further your school's mission.
5. Stay positive. Children are sensitive to their environment. When adults are positive, children are positive and ready to learn. If your child is struggling, remind them of their strengths, encourage them to make new friends. A positive attitude boosts your child's confidence and helps them to overcome any obstacles they might face during the school year!
Enrollment contracts are often the subject of debate, but why do schools offer contracts in the first place? Enrollment contracts outline payment terms, require students and parents to adhere to the school's rules set forth in the parent handbook, and often require “parent cooperation,” meaning parents must promise to maintain a “positive, collaborative and constructive relationship” with the school. Enrollment contracts also outline the school's roles and responsibilities for the duration of time your child is in care.
What's a re-enrollment fee and when is it assessed?
At Monarch Montessori School, we charge a small re-enrollment fee when your 12-month contract ends. The fee is assessed 60 days prior to your contract ending and isn't due until the contract expires. The re-enrollment fee of $195 essentially renews a 12-month contract with us and allows your child to stay on the enrollment roster. Although you're renewing your contract with us, you will be subject to the tuition rates for the upcoming school year and will see a slight increase in your monthly invoice.
