Who can receive services from your agency? Are they disqualified if they were dishonorably discharged? If they’re not a close family member? “We’re here to help. We’re not going to exclude people. We’re going to help them“

Why don’t we have this availability for persons with addictions? how many people will still get turned away from treatment TODAY for substance use because they don’t “meet criteria“. Because they are not in withdrawal or because they haven’t used enough drugs at the right time? We have a long ways to go.
“Please take the extra minute and ask how they’re doing. When someone says “I’m good“ let them know how happy you are and ask the details about how good they’re doing. Because sometimes they’re really not doing good and just need someone to listen for a moment. ”
Soot Found In Fetus Lungs, Brains, And Placentas During Early Pregnancy "We all worried that if nanoparticles were getting into the fetus, then they might be directly affecting its development in the womb."
How Mom's Mood May Affect Her Baby's Language Development Communicating with babies in infant-directed-speech is considered an essential prerequisite for successful language development. Researchers have now investigated how the mood of mothers in the postpartum period affects their child’s development.
You can discipline and guide a child without disrespecting, shaming, or scaring them.
A human beings deepest fear is disconnection, so it’s important that we always act and speak from a place of relationship and respect before we take action with a child.

Working with a family just yesterday. Mom says her adult son is now 5 years sober from He**in ( and all other drugs including alcohol). This is why I do what I do. Not only supporting, but teaching, guiding, advising family members how to reward recovery and to de-incentivize addiction behaviors in their loved ones...:)

My favorite quote:
"alcohol does more harm than good to our society,"
"according to Christopher Labos, MD, CM, MSc, an epidemiologist and cardiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex in Montreal, Canada.
"When you look at studies that correct for things like reverse causation, or the fact that some people who drink zero alcohol are former drinkers who used to drink alcohol, then you realize that the protective benefit of alcohol is either minimal or nonexistent and that alcohol does more harm than good to our society,"
Moderate Alcohol's Health Benefits Look Increasingly Doubtful New data in cardiology, oncology, and neurology are calling into question the value of even the proverbial 'one glass of wine a day' recommendation.

ADDICTION IS A TREATABLE DISEASE THAT DOES NOT NEED TO TORTURE YOU FOR YEARS
Real, lasting recovery happens regularly. However, where you go for that treatment is crucial to recovery. If your loved one has been though many rehabs, counselors and nothing has worked, it may be the type of treatment your loved one received, that may be at least part of the failure. "Treatment As Usual" (TAU) is a term described by many researchers in the field to highlight the lack of evidenced based practices and techniques that occur in many treatment centers here in New York State. Although most will claim to offer what seems to be the best services, they unfortunately do not always deliver that which may be needed. Looking at the various treatment choices you have can be overwhelming and seemingly impossible to know which is best for your loved one. The use of family therapy and the active involvement of family members in treatment is rare. Combined with strong case management and other evidenced based practices, Inner Quest Mental Health Counseling, PLLC can help your family regain peace, healing and tranquility. This combination of therapies and techniques has been found superior over TAU that is abundantly available and already not worked for you. Addictions to drugs, alcohol, s*x, gambling can be the most difficult issues for family members to cope with. One difficulty is the broken treatment system where not only patients get lost or neglected, but even more so the families are often ignored completely. As one parent said just this week " The treatment center advertised family counseling but he was released without one call to me, no meetings, no planning, nothing."
