These organizations have hosted a program and/or events that reflect their mission and have demonstrated a commitment to professional excellence, creativity, and social justice. Furthermore, the organization embodies the Emory spirit through its commitment to leadership development, collaboration amongst groups, and programmatic efforts to enhance the quality of campus life at Emory University.

Heart of Emory: Eunheh Koh"...She is a caring person who is wholeheartedly and humbly devoted to bettering the lives of those around her.On top of her many involvements in and around the Emory community, Eunheh is a dedicated scholar, excelling in her classes and helping others when they are struggling. I believe that Eunheh is an excellent representative of what an Emory student should be."

Heart of Emory: Anna Ruiz

"From the moment I met her, I could tell she was superbly talented in using words to articulate thoughts but was also quick to put those words into action. She was always willing to jump in the weeds and was not above any task. She listened to the perspective of others, even when that perspective was vastly different than her own. She was bold and engaged in dialogue fiercely."

Heart of Emory: Jacob Hicks

"Jacob has provided support and encouragement to all members within College Council by coaching students through legislative processes and advising students to pursue initiatives. In each leadership and involvement experience/position, Jacob has poured his heart and soul into this campus community, working tirelessly to improve the Emory experience for current and future students."

Heart of Emory: Claire Pomykala

Graduate Student Leader of the Year: Linden Wait

"Linden has been an absolute force in advocating for not only IRAP's clients but also the rights of immigrants at large... She's also been a fierce advocate for her fellow students. She regularly engages with the administration to assess and amend the law school's policies."

Undergraduate Student Leader of the Year: Solmon Ahn

"From the time that Solmon took over as president last spring, he has worked tirelessly to refocus KISEM as a positive force in the lives of Korean students and the Emory community at large. Through his determination and leadership, Solmon has reinvigorated KISEM, bringing it back to its important role as a leader and positive force in the Korean student community."

Advisor/Mentor of the Year: Joanne Amposta Williams

"I have seen Joanne go above and beyond for her students. She stays late to attend events led by student organizations and then comes to work early the next morning to accommodate a student who didn’t have any other time to meet."

Student Organization of the Year: Emory Public Interest Committee

"As the largest group on Emory Law's campus, EPIC is a driving force in this community, pushing students to be educated on social issues, engage in respectful discussion, and overall do good... EPIC is one of the most underrecognized organizations at Emory Law and very much deserves recognition for its continued commitment to Emory's mission of public service."

Thanks for coming to the Spring 2020 Discover Your Leadership Edge Workshop! We loved breaking down assumptions and discussing how we can practice leadership in all experiences, not just ones where we hold a title or are “in charge.” .

When joining orgs and applying for positions, think about how your previous experiences ARE leadership experiences. Reflect on these experiences to help you clarify what you learned and how you will apply that to future roles.
