📣Meet Kacy ~ a fun loving 2 year-old, female Husky mix, who’s as sweet as they come!

🐾 Kacy is extremely outgoing and has the best personality. She absolutely loves everyone she meets and is a very happy go lucky girl.

🐾 Kacy is extremely smart and listens very well. She will sit, shake and lay down on command. She weighs around 50 lbs, is spayed, current on shots and crate trained.

🐾 Kacy doesn’t have the thick, fluffy coat of a purebred Husky so that’s a lot less dog hair to brush!! She is great in the house and a non-chewer.🙌🏻🙌🏻

STOP ABANDONING YOUR DOGS, ATLANTA!

347!!!
347 dogs came into metro Atlanta’s TWO shelters last week. 347 dogs came in. 203 to Fulton. 144 to DeKalb. Despite weeks of media coverage and staff and volunteer public anguish over historic overcrowding.

347 dogs did not leave for adoption, rescue or foster. Dogs are leaving the building in black garbage bags. Beautiful 1 year-old dogs. Shy dogs. Anxious dogs. Stressed out dogs. Dog-friendly dogs. There is no such thing as no-kill with these kinds of numbers.

Do NOT blame the shelters. This is a community problem. No one went to work in animal welfare to kill animals. They are just the ones having to deal with this problem.

STOP ABANDONING YOUR ANIMALS ATLANTA!! There are resources available if you need help with food, supplies, vet care, re-homing. (See the featured post on this page.)

Stop thinking, “I can just take him to the shelter, they are no-kill” or “I’ll turn her loose and animal control will take her to the shelter” or "I work long hours." Dogs are dying now because there is no. more. room. Dogs are living in crates and cat kennels, only getting outside if a volunteer takes them out, sometimes as long as two weeks between. Your dog will 100% be happier home alone sleeping all day at your house than crammed in a 3' x 2' kennel at a loud, stressful shelter 24/7.

• STOP ABANDONING YOUR ANIMALS
• Stop supporting backyard breeders.
• Stop buying from pet stores—which are supplied by puppy mills across Georgia
• Work harder to find pet-friendly housing. “I’m moving” is not a reason to abandon your family member. Yes, it is hard in Atlanta and that sucks. But it is possible.
• Spay and neuter your pets.
• Foster a dog or cat.
• Adopt from your local shelter or a rescue who pulls from your local shelter.
• Volunteer
• Donate money, supplies, crates.
• Support expansion and funding for the DeKalb shelter
• Support county officials who support animal welfare issues and who will work to speed the HORRIFIC dysfunctionality of animal neglect/cruelty legal process. Hold your representatives accountable. - Scott Mclane

URGENT! DESPERATE FOR A FOSTER HOME!! Please Share!

Prince and Perry are 2 best friends living in a small bathroom with no windows for the past 4 months, who barely get any attention!
They were found living on the back deck of a home as strays for a year. They are very confused in this small bathroom and sit in the bathtub, not understanding what to do. They really don’t know what’s going on and need to be in home with more room and with someone who will give them the love and attention they crave. A wonderful cat foster or adoptive home is needed, someone who‘s experienced with cats please.

Both cats are neutered and completed healthy and vetted.

Prince is a long haired, beautiful grey and white male, possible Maine C**n mix, around 1 1/2 years old.
Perry is a gorgeous, green-eyed tabby male, 2 years old.

Words from a responsible pet owner….

“I got my dog when I was just 19 years old and a single mother of 1. But I kept my dog. I kept my dog even though I moved into an apartment and had to pay a $500 pet fee. I kept my dog when my boyfriend and I broke up and he kept the apartment even though my new place didn't allow dogs. I kept my dog when I ultimately had to move back in with my parents and she also was not allowed there. I kept my dog when I had my second child. I kept my dog when his father put all of us through hell and none of us had anywhere to go. I kept my dog when I had a penny to my name and we all ate nothing but buttered noodles for dinner. And 10 years later I STILL have my dog because she is the very start of the huge family that we now have. And even though she's getting slow, eating less and turning grey I STILL HAVE MY DOG. I'm tired of hearing and reading about posts that say "getting rid of them because they don't like my new puppy" or "I want a new dog". Commitment is commitment. And if you can't do so much as commit to a selfless, caring, loving creature that sees you as their entire world... you don't deserve children or happiness. And you also suck as a human being.”

We wish more people had this mentality.

Unbelievable we know! Unfortunately this goes to show how big of a problem over pet population really is. 3-4 MILLION pets are euthanized at shelters each year! Sugar Bear would love to have a home this year. Let 2022 be her year!
She’s great with people and other sweet, non-dominant dogs.

"It turns out that pets also have last wills before they die, but only known to vets who put old and sick animals to sleep." Twitter user Jesse Dietrich asked a vet what the hardest part of his job was.

The specialist replied without hesitation that the hardest thing for him was seeing how old or sick animals look for their owners before they fall asleep. The fact is 90% of owners don't want to be in a room with a dying animal. People leave so they don't see their animals leave. But they don't realize it's in these last moments of life that their animal needs them the most.

Vets are asking owners to stay close to animals until the end. "It is inevitable that they die before you. Remember that you were the center of their lives. Maybe they were just a part of you. But they are also your family. Even if it's hard, don't give up on them.

Don't let them die in a room with a stranger in a place they don't like. It's very painful for vets to see how pets can't find their owner in the last minutes of their lives. They don't understand why their master left them. After all, they needed the consolation of their master.

Veterinarians do their best to make animals not so scared, but they are totally strangers to them. Don't be a coward because it's too painful for you. Think about the animal. Endure that pain for them. Be with them until the end.

**URGENT** 2 CATS DESPERATELY NEED A FOSTER HOME!!

They really need to be in home with more room and with someone who will give them the love and attention they crave. A true cat person is needed, someone who‘s raised cats please. They had a clean bill of health at the vet, have been neutered and vaccinated.
