Special Olympics athletes trained in Washington D.C. over the weekend to become official Health Messengers! Special Olympics Georgia athletes Erin H. and Daley F. joined athletes from other programs like Special Olympics Mississippi to accomplish this extraordinary goal! Thanks to Leah with Special Olympics for our tour of the national headquarters and Special Olympics Delaware (SODE) for leading the training. athletes also got a chance to sightsee, even getting a tour of Capitol Hill! Athlete Daley F. also celebrated a birthday, how cool! Thanks to SOGA team member Jake, and Coach Linda F. of Forsyth County for accompanying our athletes on this awesome trip! This weekend was filled with loads of fun but also lots of learning and we are so happy SOGA athletes could experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Lyric has one of the best personalities of any athlete you will ever meet! Although she might be small now, her fierceness makes up for it on the track and on the softball field! Lyric has only been an athlete for two short years, but her presence has already made a huge impact on the Cherokee County delegation. Lyric is a great example of being brave in every attempt that she makes! We’re excited to watch her grow and compete for many years to come!

North Fulton United has been a local soccer club promoting inclusion for years. In this time, NFU Soccer has grown from 15 participants to over 145. Special Olympics Georgia highlights the accomplishments of North Fulton United with a recap of their past year!

⚽NFU Soccer was invited to the official Atlanta United training grounds and it was wonderful to allow NFU Soccer participants to have that experience.
⚽NFU Soccer formed a relationship with the Marist Boys Soccer Program, which highlights the benefits of Unified Sports.
⚽NFU athlete Genevieve G., walked out on the pitch for the nationally televised She Believes Cup opening ceremonies at Mercedes Benz Stadium, and to end the season on an even higher note,
⚽NFU Soccer athlete, Eric P., was selected as the 2024 Special Olympics Georgia Athlete of the Year at State Summer Games in May!
