Congratulations to the 2025 Southeastern Regional Concert Festival Invited Middle and High School Ensembles!
The Southeastern Regional Concert Festival is designed for middle and high school bands interested in an exciting, educational, life-changing experience.
Each ensemble performs a concert before a knowledgeable audience, including the Festival evaluation panel, music educators, and fellow ensembles. Directors receive recorded and written comments from the evaluators.
These ensembles will partake in master classes, featured concerts, and scheduled concert observations. Nationally renown evaluators will clinic each performing ensemble.

We are midway into this year’s Atlanta Summer Conducting Institute. Participants from all over the country have traveled to Georgia State University for a week-long study on conducting with a focus on either choral and wind band.
Fellows and auditors rub shoulders with esteemed conductors as they delve further into their craft. We’re excited to see great musical mentorship happening on Georgia State’s campus.
This year’s Summer Music Institute was a hit! Over one hundred and thirty middle and high schoolers split into four tracks (choir, jazz, music industry/audio and orchestra) for a fun, intensive week of musical study.
Students learned from renowned instructors and honed their craft through ensemble sessions, lectures and in-depth study. Each track ended the week on a high note with a special concert to showcase all they’ve learned.
Thank you to all the faculty, staff and volunteers who imparted their time, talent and wisdom to these promising, young musicians.

That’s a wrap on Harrower Summer Opera Workshop!
We had a wonderful season of classic American Operas performed by amazing talented singers. We are honored these young artists from all across the country chose to spend their summer for the 39th Harrower Summer Opera Workshop.
Congratulations to our Little Women and Susannah Casts for their stellar performances. A special thank you to guest conductor William Lumpkin and guest stage director Claire Choquette and Artistic Director JJ Hudson and music director Rolando Salazar.
Thank you to all crew who put so much hard work and creativity to make these productions possible and the community for giving these opera singes their love and support.

Introducing Travis Sherwood!
Travis received his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from University of Southern California. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Voice and Vocal Area Coordinator at San Diego State University, School of Music and Dance.
Travis plays traveling preacher driven to cast out demons Olin Blitch who commits a grave sin upon the young, innocent Susannah.

Last weekend, we celebrated the 39th anniversary of the Harrower Summer Opera Workshop. Donors, patrons and opera enthusiasts gathered to commemorate the occasion and were treated to special performances by Harrower workshop participants. We closed the night with talented soloist and Artist in Residence Talise Trevigne and Maestro Rolando Salazar on the piano.
The 2024 season features American classic operas Susannah by Carlisle Floyd and Little Women adapted by Mark Adamo. To hear the incredible vocals of our bright Harrower participants, join us next weekend for their amazing performances.

Introducing Brandon Stephens!
Brandon graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Industrial Design and Marketing, while lending his voice to the University Chamber Choir for five years.
Brandon plays Elder Ott. Concealing his desire for Susannah into rage, he joins the collective in shunning Susannah from the church.

Becca received her Master of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and her Performance Diploma from Boston University.
Becca plays Aunt Cecelia March - a sharp tongued, feisty, wealthy socialite who disapproves of the March girls way of life and presents one of them a shiny opportunity that could change their future forever.

Team building. Problem solving. These young musicians learned it all at this year’s Summer Leadership Institute. Built to prepare the next generation to be effective leaders, this event instilled top notch, engaging strategies for students while music directors learned innovative methods to draw out the best in them. This year featured Peter Boonshaft and Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser who brought motivation and inspiration in their lectures as breakout leaders got hands in their learning activities. Shout out to all faculty, staff and Georgia State students who made this event possible.
