Hello, all!
We want to thank everybody who came out to our Nice Lil' Night. Our team had so much fun meeting all of you and we hope you had a good time talking about diversity, meeting our wonderful student organizations, and, of course, sipping on hot chocolate!
Thank you so much to UT Indian Students Association, Texas Latin Dance at The University of Texas at Austin, and Voices of Afrika for partnering with us and helping make this such a great event!
Finally, special thanks goes to Michael Sanchez for his graphic design work.
We hope to see you all again at our future events. Until then, good luck with finals!
Today’s the day! And we have a few more reveals for you.
First up: Voices of Afrika
Voices of Afrika is a premier acapella group at UT. Founded in the 90s, their vision has and continues to be to highlight and showcase the music and sounds of Africa and the African Diaspora. They were previously delegated under Texas African Student Organization but as of this year operates as a official university organization. They are also the 2017 Texas R***e winning act.
You will DEFINITELY want to stop by for their performance from 6-6:30!!
We are happy to announce the first org participating in our Nice Lil’ Night: The Indian Students Association. Read on to learn more about them!
Established in 1954, the Indian Students Association (ISA) at The University of Texas at Austin is composed of a board of students who organize events throughout the year. ISA is an umbrella organization that aims to connect all South Asian organizations on campus and host campus-wide talent events. This year, ISA hosted its second ever National South Asian A Ca****la Competition: Jeena, and every spring, they host the UT South Asian dance competition: Taal. In addition, ISA hosts various campus events, notably the biannual Food For Thought, and also participates in collaboration events with other South Asian organizations.
Come out on Thursday, November 29th, to hang out with ISA and learn more about their culture!!
*Also, if you are an org who would like to join in the celebration, it's not too late! Just message us for the deets:)
Thank you to everyone who responded to our Google Form or interacted with us on Twitter. Your feedback is critical for us to begin creating initiatives and resources to make your UT experience better.
With that, we have decided that our first Town Hall will be all about resources -- the ways in which we can expand them and create them. If you provide resources to students in relation to diversity or inclusion, and you would like to see some changes, PLEASE come talk to us! If you feel like there are certain resources lacking, PLEASE come talk to so we can understand you!
Are you a part of an organization on campus that serves to uplift and celebrate culture? Well, we want YOU to join us to celebrate your identity, traditions, and people. Fill out this interest form for more details:
