Paul's Place, Inc.
Paul's Place is a nonprofit located in Southwest Baltimore that provides free meals and services to anyone in need.
Our work is only made possible by the support of our community. To learn how you can help, email: [email protected]
It’s National Nonprofit Day! Nonprofits throughout the country work to promote awareness and offer assistance to individuals who otherwise would not be able to afford it. At Paul’s Place, through services that address food and housing insecurity, obstacles to finding employment, inadequate access to health care – and much more – we play a vital role in our community and provide hope for a brighter future! WE CAN ALL CONTRIBUTE IN SOME MANNER, whether it’s by volunteering, giving, or just spreading the word about the good work we do. Help us continue to make a difference – make a gift at paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/! To volunteer or make an in-kind donation, contact Chevonne Francois at [email protected] today!
Paul’s Place’s SUMMER CAMP FOR KIDS wrapped up last week, providing memories and friendships for 40 children from our community! Our thanks go to Church of the Redeemer for hosting camp during week 3, and to St. John’s Church-Western Run Parish for sponsoring field trips for week 4! Good times were had with music, swimming, agility courses, and fun-park rides – to name a few. LET’S KEEP A GOOD THING GOING for next year – make a gift at paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/ today!
Wasn’t summer more fun as a kid? We didn’t even mind the heat so much. We’re halfway through this year’s 4-week SUMMER CAMP, and FORTY KIDS have had a blast so far (free of cost!) thanks to sponsors St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church-Owings Mills (week 1) and St. James’ Episcopal Church-Monkton (week 2); each hosted the camp for one week! We also thank Baker Donelson staff again this year for donating summer essentials. Activities so far included playing games, meeting farm animals, crafts, and much more – each week brings something different! Watch for updates on the final two weeks at new sponsored locations. KEEP SUMMER CAMP GOING FOR NEXT YEAR! Make a gift at paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/, and enter Summer Camp in the comments field.

We love travel-size toiletries! They’re perfect for giving to our guests. We’re lucky to receive donations of these necessities from corporate partners, groups, and individuals throughout the year, but our supply is getting low. Especially needed are deodorant, soap, hand sanitizer, lotion, tissues, and adhesive bandages. Vacationing at a hotel? Round up those complimentary toiletries! To see our Amazon wish list, visit paulsplaceoutreach.org/donate/, scroll down to Guidelines for Donating Items and click on the Health & Wellness list. If you would like to make an in-kind donation, contact Chevonne Francois at [email protected] to schedule a drop-off. (Pictured: Toiletry kit from Baker Donelson employees.)
Paul’s Place is sad to note the passing of Wanda Lewis, one of our former Ambassadors. Later today (Thursday, July 18) a wake will be held at 4:00PM and the funeral at 6:00PM at Carter Memorial Church of God in Christ at 13 South Poppleton Street, Baltimore MD, 21201. We wish her family and friends comfort as they mourn their loss.
HEY, STUDENTS! Do you need to get in some service hours? Volunteering at Paul’s Place is a great way to do that! We especially need volunteers for August, so you’ll be able to get those hours before the school year starts. Don’t hesitate – you’ll have a GOOD EXPERIENCE here! And feel free to bring family and friends along. Contact Chevonne Francois, Volunteer Manager, at 410-625-0775 x122 or [email protected] to schedule your volunteer time.
Today’s the last day to make our 2024 fiscal year a better one! Things are tough all over, as the saying goes. You’ve probably heard or seen calls for giving from many different non-profits lately. Between reduced funding and increased need for and cost of services, it’s been a struggle for us to keep pace. Compared to the prior fiscal year, Paul’s Place has had to DO MORE WITH FEWER RESOURCES IN EVERY PROGRAM AREA: approximately 6,000 more lunches, 200 more vital document services, 20 more housing stabilization services, 30 more nursing and basic needs services during outreach, 300 more visits to Market Place for clothing, and 15 more Culinary Training program students, to name a few. Please make YOUR GIFT TODAY so we can MEET THE NEED TOMORROW! Visit paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/. Thank you for supporting Paul’s Place!
“Pauls Place is the Best because it takes care for the ones in need.” That message is from the young son of one of the families we are working with, and it warms our hearts! During the fiscal year ending this month, we provided 35 HOUSEHOLDS with housing services, assisted with 189 SNAP BENEFIT APPLICATIONS, and supported 185 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS with tutoring and activities through our After-3 program! Please help us continue to impact the families and children in Southwest Baltimore with a gift to Paul’s Place at paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/, so we can end this fiscal year on a note of promise for the one to come.
Do you believe in the value of the work Paul’s Place does to lift our community? We need you to make a gift to Paul’s Place – that’s the magic that keeps us going! Our fiscal year ends June 30, and YOUR SUPPORT CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE in our ability to serve lunch to the ever-growing number of food-insecure neighbors. Feel the magical glow of giving back by making your gift online at paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/ today!
What are you doing on Thursday? Baltimore Home Services is holding a BALTIMORE FAMILY GIVING DAY DONATIONS DRIVE to benefit Paul’s Place! Bring your items to the Canton Rite Aid tomorrow, June 27th, between 3PM and 7PM. See their flyer for a list of needed items. We thank BHS – a locally owned and operated business – for supporting Paul’s Place!
Paul’s Place is closed on Wednesday, June 19, to allow our staff to honor Juneteenth! Like Independence Day, JUNETEENTH IS A HOLIDAY FOR EVERYONE TO CELEBRATE! It recognizes and celebrates a profound milestone in American history — the declaration of freedom for an entire race of American people who had been held in bo***ge for centuries. In our city enriched by the cultures of people of all colors and backgrounds – some of whom find assistance at Paul’s Place – we certainly support the message of this holiday!
Our thanks to MORGAN STANLEY employees for giving back to Paul’s Place during their annual, global, giving back month! They’re supporting us with a clothing and toiletries drive, volunteer time, and online gifts. We’re honored to be included in their giving back to the community! If your business or organization would like to volunteer or make an in-kind donation, contact Chevonne Francois at 410-625-0775 x122 or [email protected] today.
May 28 is WORLD HUNGER DAY, a chance to take action to relieve food insecurity, especially here in our own community. Baltimore City has long struggled with systemic poverty and hunger, and the post-COVID recovery continues to impact many with increased costs of just about every necessity and cutbacks or elimination of many food assistance programs, making conditions worse, even for families that had never before experienced food insecurity. PAUL’S PLACE SAW A 32% INCREASE IN LUNCHES SERVED in 2023 compared to 2022 – that’s nearly 9,000 more! Please take a moment to help us meet the need with a secure online gift at paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/ today!
Did you receive our LATEST NEWSLETTER? It’s packed with great stories and insights from guests and volunteers – the ones who can tell you what it’s really like to come to Paul’s Place. There is also news about our partnerships in the community, including the Ravens’ Arthur Maulet and the Pratt Library. If you didn’t get the newsletter in the mail or by email, you can view or download the full issue here: paulsplaceoutreach.org/about/newsletter/. Don’t forget to support all the great work you read about with a gift at paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/.
Paul’s Place thanks the staff at ARAMARK for building community by volunteering with us today! It was a good experience for them, as well. “My team had a great time helping out in the clothing bank, and in the kitchen. We look forward to helping you out again in the future,” commented account executive Erin Kenney. Anytime, we say! We certainly appreciated their enthusiasm and positive attitude! Contact Chevonne Francois at 410-625-0775 x122 or [email protected] to schedule YOUR volunteer experience.
March is NATIONAL SOCIAL WORK MONTH, a time to recognize the dedication and empathy social workers across the country deliver while providing services to children, adults, and families in need. Social workers – or case managers, as we know them – are advocates, advisors, counselors, and facilitators, offering support to people of all backgrounds in crisis situations or when life creates roadblocks and uncertainty.
Paul’s Place is proud of the DEDICATION OF OUR CASE MANAGERS and the IMPACT THEY HAVE MADE ON SO MANY LIVES in our community! From the start of our fiscal year last July through February, our Case Management team has: provided 706 guest engagement services; conducted 577 appointments/application assistance; provided 400 vital document services; secured housing stabilization for 23 households; and assisted with 141 applications for SNAP benefits. So far, 565 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS HAVE BEEN HELPED TO ACHIEVE STABILITY!
Although much has been accomplished, MORE HAS TO BE DONE and we must expand our services to meet the increasing need. Please help us to help our neighbors with a gift to paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/ today!
It’s INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY, a global day of recognition of women’s achievements and contributions every day! It also calls for equality and opportunity in the workplace and society and an end to violence against women around the world. Baltimore City’s 2023 Point-In-Time Count Report shows that, on a particular night in January, 557 FEMALES WERE HOMELESS (35% of the total) – unsheltered or living in emergency shelters or transitional housing. There are many causes for homelessness, but economic insecurity and abuse are certainly factors. HELP US HELP WOMEN AND GIRLS IN OUR COMMUNITY with a gift to Paul’s Place at paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/ today!
CONGRATS TO COHORT 11 OF PAUL’S PLACE’S CULINARY TRAINING PROGRAM! A graduation ceremony and culinary showcase took place yesterday at Groundwork Kitchen, with proud friends and family on hand to applaud their grads and enjoy the delicious appetizers and lunch they prepared. The occasion was even more special because this cohort included THE 100TH STUDENT TO GRADUATE FROM THE PROGRAM! We are proud of every one of our Culinary Training alumni, whose commitment and hard work have made this workforce development initiative a success since it began in 2021. You can play a part in that success by making a gift to paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/ to ensure the program continues!
HAPPY LEAP DAY! Leap Year day is an “extra day” in the year for us to provide much needed services. A gift of $2,900, $290, or $29 would go a long way to supporting our work as we leap into March! Make a gift today at paulsplaceoutreach.org/donateonline/ so we can meet the need EVERY day!

As an organization with a diverse staff (pictured) that serves a diverse community, we believe in social justice and in treating everyone who walks through our door with dignity and respect – regardless of race, sexual orientation, circumstance, or anything else that makes us each unique. Life is challenging enough without division. We're better when we stand together!

Was your Christmas merry? We hope so! Maybe you’re still celebrating, or still have family or friends to visit. At Paul’s Place, we marked the holiday last Friday with a special lunch for our guests! We thank GRAUL’S MARKET of Ruxton for donating more than 100 roaster chickens again this year to make the holiday meal complete. BAKER DONELSON contributed to the festive feel by providing candy canes with handwritten notes of cheer for each person. Guests also received gifts handed out by our Volunteers Manager and two charming helpers! Paul's Place sends warm holiday wishes to you all!
