Catholic Charities of Maryland
Catholic Charities is Maryland's leading private provider of human services, known for compassionate care giving and programs aimed at self-sufficiency.
Our more than 80 programs across the state care for tens of thousands of people each year.
Bring the whole family to the 3rd Annual Back to School Bash at St. Joseph's Monastery Parish on Saturday, August 17, from 11 am to 2 pm. There will be free food, back-to-school supplies, backpacks, uniforms shirts, haircuts, and so much more! We hope to see you there.
There will be back-to-school celebrations today and tomorrow in three neighorhoods we love and serve through Safe Streets: Brooklyn, Penn-North, and Sandtown Wi******er. Please come out and join the fun with us as we cheer on our young scholars preparing for another successful school year.
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Taylor Scott will serve as Catholic Charities' new Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Scott is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who has been with us for nearly 10 years. As CMO, she will provide medical oversight for the agency's work and ensure that all clinical assessments and care meet agency and regulatory standards. Thank you, Dr. Scott, for your commitment to caring for those in need!
As part of our year-long "Love Your Neighbor" campaign, we asked members of the Catholic Charities family to share their thoughts about how this commitment connects to their daily work. Today's contribution comes from the incomparable Kelly Anderson, program director of Sarah's House: "For me, it connects because the people we serve are my neighbors. I am an Anne Arundel County resident serving Anne Arundel County residents in their greatest time of need. There is no better way to show love."
Join your neighbors tonight at one of our region's many National Night Out parties. This annual event is a community-building campaign that promotes neighborhood camaraderie to make all of our communities safer, more caring places to live. This is right up our ally, which is why we're taking part in multiple neighborhood get-togethers, including this one in Cherry Hill. Always, always
Thanks to our exciting new partnership with sports radio station 105.7TheFan, members of the Catholic Charities team had the opportunity to attend Baltimore Ravens' training camp. During the regular season, we will sponsor the station’s popular Monday Morning Quarterback show. Our goal is to share with fans the work we do and the opportunities we have to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. And, yes, that’s a life-size bobblehead of the great Ray Lewis in The Fan’s lobby. Let’s Go Ravens!
Members of the Catholic Charities family do double duty -- even triple, quadruple, and whatever-comes-after quadruple duty! -- to serve those in need throughout Maryland. Most of this beautiful bunch, for example, not only care for children and families, immigrants, individuals with intellectual disabilities, people in poverty, and seniors. They also share the amazing stories of our clients and the work we do on social media. To see and follow all of our programs active on social media, check out our current list here: https://cc-md.org/social/. If you're interested in good news, this is the place.
To encourage citizens to safely relinquish any fi****ms in their possession, a collection of community and faith-based organizations will hold the second annual Gun Buyback on Saturday, August 10 from 10 am to 2 pm in the parking lot at Edmondson High School (501 N. Athol Ave.). "This event is about building a coalition for peace and channeling hope to the community," said the Rev. Michael Murphy, pastor of St. Joseph's Monastery Parish and founding member of Health by Southwest, a coalition of organizations that includes Catholic Charities.

"Loving your neighbor is at the core of what I see our colleagues doing every single day. They have made it their calling in life to professionally 'love their neighbor' by committing to working at Catholic Charities," says Ashley Valis, our indispensible chief operating officer. "I couldn’t name a more appropriate place to work if this type of mission speaks to you. We serve others. We provide support and hope for a better life. And we act with humility and respect for the neighbors we are blessed to assist." Check out our current openings right here: https://cc-md.org/careers/
Due to expected inclement weather, tonight's celebration of National Night Out has been rescheduled for Tuesday, August 13. "The spirit of National Night Out is about building community connections between residents and the law enforcement personnel that serve them," said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. "We're making the decision to reschedule out of an abundance of caution to ensure that everyone is able to do so while also remaining safe during this forecasted severed weather." See you next week!

During his twice-monthly visits, he has joyfully engaged the young people at St. Vincent's in every sport imaginable. We are so thankful for his extraordinary service, and we wish him all the best as he prepares to get married this weekend! Congratulations, Rob, and thank you for showing us what it means to .
As part of our year-long "Love Your Neighborhood" campaign, we are sharing reflections from clients and colleagues. Here's one from our superstar development coordinator, Tara Runge: “My Brother's Keeper shows the spirit of Love Thy Neighbor everyday with smiles, conversation, and wonderful meals. Such a pleasure to serve with these colleagues.”
Three fantastic fundraisers were held in July for St. Vincent's Villa, and we are so grateful! Our friends at the Townsontowne-Hunt Valley Rotary hosted a fundraiser at Union Craft Brewing. Our friend Mike Weeks held his 1st Annual Co****le Tournament at Angeli's Pizzeria. And our friend Brendan Wayne opened a lemonade stand to raise funds for us. Thanks, friends, for all you did and do to .
