Our team traveled to Da Nang, Vietnam, to participate in a Bloomberg Philanthropies workshop focused on road safety data sharing in the city!

The workshop brought together delegates from the Da Nang City Department of Transportation, Vital Strategies, Da Nang City Red Cross Society, Hanoi University of Public Health, and local traffic agencies. They analyzed the current road safety climate, reporting indicators, and data sharing mechanisms.

JH-IIRU is thrilled to join the inaugural event and meet with colleagues from the World Health Organization (WHO), Global Designing Cities Initiative, Global Road Safety Partnership, Global Health Advocacy Incubator, World Resources Institute, Global Road Safety Facility, Global NCAP, Vital Strategies, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police to discuss road safety interventions.

Together with the Hanoi University of Public Health, we delivered workshops on scientific literature and academic writing to 45 Vietnamese students, physicians, and government officials. 🧑‍🎓 🩺

We also held a symposium on rehabilitation for 71 attendees, focusing on the current landscape, gaps, and strategies.

We look forward to further collaboration in Vietnam!

Together with representatives from Vital Strategies, Global Designing Cities Initiative, International Association of Chiefs of Police and Bloomberg Philanthropies, we conducted a workshop for La Voz journalists in Cordoba, Argentina. Several local government officials attended as well.

The workshop tackled topics ranging from risk factors and road design to enforcement strategies, campaigns and provided hands-on activities.

We are teaming up with the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, Tanzania Red Cross Society and Johns Hopkins Medicine's Department of Surgery to dive into discussions on humanitarian health research priorities with local stakeholders.

Funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health, EMPOWER TZ aims to bolster research capacity in areas of surgery, rehabilitation, and humanitarian health.

Together with Argentina's CONICET, Mar del Plata National University, and with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies, we presented the Status Summary Report 2023 on road safety risk factors to municipal authorities in the city of Cordoba.

During the event, the groups also presented a second data collection round on speed in the city, which took place in December 2023.
