YMCA ExxonMobil
A non-profit community service organization dedicated to improving the community. The ExxonMobil YMCA has been serving the community since 2010.
The Y is more than a gym. We are an inclusive organization inspiring people of all ages, abilities and incomes to live healthier in spirit, mind and body. At the Y, we don’t just provide programs and services, we transform lives.
DYK? 52% of young people are less likely to skip a day of school with a mentor. The Y has a chance to help close the mentoring gap and increase youth’s access to caring adults. Join us in creating these relationships that are critical to our country’s future. Learn more about becoming a Y mentor or mentee by visiting us online to learn about Y programs: ymcabr.org
The start of the new year is a great time to look at your current habits. Are there any habits you currently have that can be tweaked, even just a little bit, to turn them into healthy habits? We’re happy to share at least four healthy habits you can begin today to ensure your 2024 is off to a great start!
1. Stop hitting snooze. Try placing your phone or alarm clock on the other side of the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off. This gives you more time to enjoy your morning routine and ease into the day, possibly even finding extra time for a visit to the Y!
2. Skip the sugar. If you’re cutting out sugary beverages but are missing the flavor, try adding fruit to your water. This adds a hint of flavor without any added sugar. Strawberries, lemons and cucumbers are just some examples of flavorful additions – get creative!
3. Find new moves. If you’re starting to dread your workouts, then maybe it’s time to switch them up! The YMCA of the Capital Area has so many group exercise classes for you to choose from. We invite you to try a format you’ve never tried before – you may just find your new favorite and reignite your passion for exercise!
4. No nightly scrolling. It may be one of the hardest habits to break – lying in bed, the comfort of the blue glow on your face as you scroll mindlessly through the internet. Instead, choose nighttime activities that promote sleep, like practicing meditation or relaxation techniques. You will thank yourself in the morning!
There is so much that the standard scale can’t tell you, such as how much of your weight is muscle, how much body fat you have around your organs, and where it sits on your body, but our EVOLT 360 scanner can in under 2 minutes! Let us help you turn information into inspiration. Receive three EVOLT 360 scans when you join our January challenge now: ymcabr.org/evolt
Our 12 Days of Christmas challenge has ended! In December, we challenged you to complete at least 12 workouts throughout the month. We had 55 participants with a total of 705 workouts completed! Great work to everyone who participated!

Join our January EVOLT Wellness Challenge starting on January 8th.
