đź“Ł Big news! Through a $10M U.S. Department of Education Teacher Quality Partnerships grant, Reach University and its partners are training 350+ Delgado Community College graduates - at no cost - to become specialized teachers in Jefferson Parish Schools and high-need K-12 parishes throughout Louisiana.
Building on the A.A. to B.A. Transfer Pathway Program, which ensures 100% of associate credits transfer into Reach’s on-the-job undergraduate program, Reach, Delgado, and the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching will further transform local K-12 schools into a college campus as learners train to become qualified teachers.
This initiative accelerates existing efforts to create a lasting pipeline of representative, classroom-ready, and credentialed teachers, while also boosting local bachelor’s degree attainment.

Three hundred years ago, Latin was the primary language of instruction at Harvard.
Two hundred years ago, the land-grant state university was not yet a thing.
And before Penn State’s 1922 foray into radio-broadcast courses, distance education meant the USPS.
Now a quarter way through the 21st century, higher education is again in need of a reboot.
Enter the Apprenticeship Degree, where students can earn a debt-free, four-year degree entirely embedded within a full-time, paid job.

Is the Workplace the New College Campus? The apprenticeship degree offers a way to close the talent gap and increase opportunity—if we can get past our skepticism about apprenticeship in the U.S., writes the president of Reach University.
🎙 Calling our education-focused and candidate community: This is the episode you’ve been waiting for! “I just found it very amazing that this program exists. Even though I just started college a little late, this was like an open door for me, to go into the field I’ve always wanted to.”
Dr. Heath Grimes, distinguished Alabama leader and retired superintendent of Russellville City Schools, and Inocencia Guarcas Cua, an amazing (and soon-to-graduate!) Reach University candidate and EL Aide at Florence City Schools, join Pres. Joe Edelheit Ross & Dr. Kiko Suarez to share the impact of one of the first teacher apprenticeships in the country.

“We believe that by making the workplace a learning place, we can revolutionize how education and industry work together to develop talent,” said Dr. Brian Shonk, chancellor of University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. “This partnership is about more than just earning a degree; it’s about creating opportunities for individuals to thrive in their careers and for businesses to grow with a highly skilled workforce.”
We couldn't agree more! The impact of an Apprenticeship Degree can extend to any high-need industry and working adult learner, from K-12 to well beyond.
A tremendous Reach University & NCAD thank you to Chancellor Shonk, Vice Chancellor Smith, and all of UACCB for hosting an Apprenticeship Degree day of learning for local, regional, and statewide leaders to explore how best to create sustainable career paths for local residents while addressing on-going labor shortages through on-the-job degrees and credentials.
