Friday night, members of Baton Rouge Delta participated in a Trunk or Treat with our "adopted" school, Claiborne Elementary. Members passed out goodies to the children in our service area.

Congratulations to LaToya Johnson on being named our October Soror of the Month!

Soror Johnson is a Spring 2023 initiate through the Baton Rouge Delta Alumnae Chapter. Since joining our organization, she has attended her first National Convention this past July, where she had the pleasure of singing with the National Choir and participating in numerous workshops.

Soror Johnson didn't hesitate at the opportunity to serve as the ERT Coordinator for our Chapter, keeping members well-informed and safe. We are so proud of Soror Johnson for coming in as a hard-working member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorotiy, Inc. and Baton Rouge Delta. Thank you Soror Johnson for your willingness to serve.

Congratulations to Baton Rouge Delta Alumnae member, Dr. YaSheka Adams, on being named to the Junior Achievement of Greater Baton Rouge & Acadian, Inc. Board of Directors.

The Baton Rouge Delta Alumnae Chapter Educational Development Programs, Delta Academy & Delta G.E.M.S., will host a makeup orientation session for new and returning participants on Monday, October 23rd at 6 p.m. at CSAL Middle Charter School.

The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is open to middle school girls ages 11-14 and the Delta GEMS Program is open to high school girls ages 14-18 in the greater Baton Rouge area. We look forward to seeing you at the orientation!

The International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated to raise awareness, address the challenges girls face, promote girl empowerment, and fulfill the human rights of girls.

Today’s more than 1.1 billion girls are poised to take on the future. Every day, girls are breaking boundaries and barriers, tackling issues like child marriage, education inequality, violence, climate justice, and inequitable access to healthcare. Girls are proving they are unstoppable!

In celebration of the 11th year of The International Day of the Girl Child, the Baton Rouge Delta Alumnae Chapter is honoring all international girls with 11 days of powerful stories, surprising facts about issues they face, and inspiring international girl children blazing their own trails. The International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated to raise awareness, address the challenges girls face, promote girl empowerment, and fulfill the human rights of girls.

Step Afrika! is coming to Baton Rouge. Founded in 1994 by C. Brian Williams, Step Afrika! is the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping. Performances are much more than dance shows; they integrate songs, storytelling, humor, and audience participation. Baton Rouge Delta Alumnae Chapter is excited to start our sorority year by congratulating Erica L. Williams on being named Soror of the Month for September.

Soror Williams was initiated in Fall 1989 through the Pi Zeta Chapter on the campus of McNeese State University. She currently serves as our 2nd Vice President, overseeing our programs, planning, and committees and has worked tirelessly doing the work of Delta. Before being elected as 2nd VP, Soror Williams served as the Chair of Arts and Letters and was instrumental in assisting the chapter in receiving seed grant funding which went toward the purchase of our Little Library located at the Dr. Leo S.Butler Community Center. She remains an enthusiastic advocate for our Arts & Letters efforts! Soror Williams is committed and steadfast in everything she does. Whether it's, serving on the Membership Intake Team or managing the duties as Risk Management Coordinator, and all things Leadership, we thank Soror Williams for being you.

Baton Rouge Delta President, LaConga Hilliard Scott, and members, had the pleasure of attending to the Louisiana Housing Conference and welcoming the 21st National President, Marcia L. Fudge, Secretary U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development served as the keynote speaker.

Congratulations to Baton Rouge Delta member, Taylor Mason, on completing her summer internship with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) under the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) in Baltimore, Maryland.

Soror Mason, a current student at the Southern University Law Center, gained experience through active litigation research, argument drafting and analysis, and worksite visits on ongoing projects funded by the FHWA.

Baton Rouge Delta proudly supports the as members attended its 20th Annual Fundraising Breakfast.

Congratulations to Baton Rouge Delta member, Emily Tilley, who serves as Executive Director of the O’Brien House, on a successful event.
