APAWS wants to encourage you to donate just $5 (or more if you can) to help the animals we bring in to apaws care from all over the state of Louisiana. If every follower on our page donated just $5, we would have over $25,000! Imagine the amazing things we could do to help save so many lives. The shelters in our area are overflowing and we are receiving so many pleas to rescue. Two things hinder our ability to help animals in need- Funds & Foster Homes.

So please, donate today for $5 Friday! These animals desperately need our help and so many of us are trying endlessly to save as many animals as we can. We need YOUR help to save them! Meet Jeanie

Jeanie is appropriatly 6months old(Aug), is current on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped & spayed. Jeanie is crate trained & doing very well with her house training. Very food motivated & eager to learn. Jeanie loves squeaky toys. She wants to play & can be a little hyper. No cats or small animals. Please consider opening your heart & home to Jeanie.

Meet Ruby!

Ruby is a German Shepherd mix, approximately 2yr 9m old(Aug2024), 60lbs, spayed current shots, microchipped, HW negative, house & crate trained. Ruby is very much your typical velcro shepherd.

Ruby came to us after being abandoned with a small bag of food at the Denham Springs dog park. Ruby’s personality: Smart, ready to learn, can be easily trained, goofy, playful, and pretty content just doing whatever. Her foster is working with her on leash manners. Considering Ruby was at a dog park, we assume she plays well with other dogs and has not been tested around cats or kids.
Ruby’s likes: Playing fetch, playing with toys and balls, walking on a leash, and is perfectly happy just being in the same room as someone.

* Ruby’s dislikes: Touching her while she eats and strangers. She will alert you when someone new comes around.
Please consider giving Ruby the life her previous owner(s) didn’t. She needs a loving family willing to give her the good live she deserves.

Meet Ferris

Ferris appropriately 6months old(Aug), current on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped & neutered. He is very sweet & submissive. He wants to play & jumps a little but is quicker to settle down. He also will use a puppy pad but not all the time. He is getting better at it. No cats. Meet Barkley

Barkley is approximately 1-2yrs old, approximately 49lbs, Pointer/lab mix, neutered, current on shots, housetrained/crate trained & will be microchipped. He would play fetch forever if he could. Barkley knows sit, does pretty good for car rides & working on his leash manners. He is energetic. He is good with cats & dogs(best with dogs closer to his size as he doesn't know his size). 🚨 URGENT!!! Medical Case!! DONATIONS DESPERATELY NEEDED!

Meet Lovie! Lovie is a sibling of Jameson, Willow, Ryder, Zebbie, Abby, Tyson and Brittany Spears. Lovie has been very sick since we brought her into APAWS with the rest of her siblings. Since taking her & her siblings in at around 8wks old- we have spent around $2500 on lovie alone over the past 6 months. Lovie and her siblings were living outside as tiny puppies. Lovie was being eaten alive by ants and we actually brought her into APAWS 2 weeks before we were able to bring in the rest of her siblings because of how sick she was. After multiple vet visits, biopsies and medications with little to no improvement, our vet suspected an autoimmune issue and referred us out to a dermatologist who also suspects the same. Lovie saw the dermatologist wednesday and had even more cultures done. That cost us another $600 wednesday alone. We are hopeful that this testing will finally give us the answers we need to be able to manage her symptoms and find out exactly what is going on. We are committed to doing everything we can to help Lovie live a happy, comfortable life BUT we need your help to be able to do that. As a non-profit, YOU (our community) are the people who fund our mission to save these animals. Without you, we would not be able to help dogs like Lovie. Dogs who wouldn’t really have a chance without a rescue commitment. As many of you know, our heart is with the medical cases. We know that most rescues are not set up for these medical cases and we have always been fortunate to be able to say yes to some of these medical cases because of our dedicated volunteers, amazing vet staff and of course our amazing community of donors and supporters. Please share Lovie’s story and if you are able to donate to her care we would appreciate it so much. We know times are tough right now and we are so grateful for all of your support❤️
