After 36 years in prison, Dwayne received his second chance. Before his incarceration he was a decorated Army veteran. During his time at Angola, he worked at the tag plant for more than 30 years and trained hundreds of men to use industrial equipment.

Today marks 5 years of freedom for Christi Cheramie. Sentenced to life in prison at 16, she makes the most of her second chance. She’s a role model, a homeowner, and a difference maker in her community. Christi is proof that Louisiana’s justice reforms are working.

After 20 years in prison, Vernon received his second chance. While incarcerated, he served as an academic tutor and a mentor to his peers. Now that he is home, he is committed to using those skills to give back to his community.

After 23 years in prison, Eldridge was given a second chance after his life sentence was commuted. With a positive outlook on his future, Eldridge is committed to starting a career and rebuilding his life.
