Craft time! A student's family member visited Emerge with some really cool crafts! Thank you to Therese for bringing her pottery wheel for us to play with today! It was a fun sensory experience, and the kiddos got to make their own cups with air-dry clay.

Working on fine and gross motor skills is an important part of Emerge's work, as Occupational Therapy allows children to become more independent and successful in their daily occupations and activities!

The Emerge campus will continue to be closed on Thursday, September 12th due to the weather. However, Emerge will reopen on Friday, September 13th. Any child who doesn’t attend on Friday will receive an unexcused absence.

On the surface, their passions might sound very different: Autism. Animal welfare. Roadside litter. But the seven women inRegister recently assembled for a roundtable discussion actually have much in common. They all seek to better the Baton Rouge community, and they are working hard to realize their lofty visions.

Announcing the 2024 Baton Rouge Area Volunteer Activists!

Since 1971, Emerge has recognized volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to the Baton Rouge community. Each year, these awards honor a class of individuals who give their time and talents to organizations across our community, above and beyond volunteer requirements, for the betterment of Baton Rouge.

Happy First Day of Bloom!! We are so excited to see what amazing things these children will accomplish!

Another year of an amazing Staff Conference in the books! Emerge's annual all-staff conference provides an excellent opportunity for team members to learn about other disciplines and fields that are practiced each day on our campus.

Our Bloom classes took a field trip to a sensory friendly showing of Despicable Me 4 at AMC!

Emerge therapist brought along headphones, weighted vests, fidgets, and talkers to make the experience as comfortable as possible for clients and their families. This is offered at movie theaters in the area on a regular basis. Ask your therapist if you are interested in more information about these sensory friendly movie theater experiences.

Yesterday we celebrated Bloom Graduation! While goodbyes are always bittersweet, we are so proud of these children and what they have accomplished. We can't wait to see what the future holds for them!

Our friends played Olympic Games this week! To get in the spirit of the Olympics, children had races, practiced throwing at a target, and had some field games. It's always a fun day when real-world activities make their way into our therapy sessions!

Want to get in on the Olympic fun at home? Try an activity like 'walking on the balance beam' by taping the floor!

Join the Emerge team! We are currently searching for a talented individual to serve as a part-time speech therapy technician. This position is an awesome learning experience as technicians are able to work closely alongside Speech and Occupational Therapists in an interdisciplinary educational environment.

Welcome to our diner! Last week, we celebrated summer time by creating an "ABA Diner" wherein children visited a mock restaurant. Students were greeted at the host stand, learned to order off a menu, and practiced motor skills using utensils. We love finding crafty and exciting ways to learn!

Last week, members of First Tuesday, employees of Turner Industries, and families of Emerge clients assembled in full force to do some serious volunteering on our campus! Thanks to the help of these awesome individuals, The Emerge School was given a fresh coat of paint and maintenance!
