Baton Rouge has a diverse set of stakeholders (institutional and community) working tirelessly to promote advancement, wellness, and safety through numerous programs, policies, and initiatives.
However, the Parish lacks a unified vision and overarching plan for working in a more coordinated manner to advance community wellness, and public safety.
Recognizing this gap and the urgent need for an “all hands-on deck” approach, city-parish leaders are inviting you to join is for a Community Safety Planning Lab.
This two-day (Tuesday and Wednesday) event will chart a course for our collective action to advance more effective, coordinated, and sustained efforts to prevent violence and assure the health and safety of all EBR residents.
Focus Areas:
🗣️Priortizing Community-Led Strategies for Violence Prevention and Intervention
⚖️Reshaping Criminal and Juvenile Justice systems
🏘️Public Safety Through Environmental Design
⚕️Transforming and Healing Communities
📚Boosting education and workforce
📈Bolstering Individual and Family Support
We need to hear, learn, and fully understand the needs of our community from you because your work and dedication in our community is beyond essential. If you feel that someone else needs to be in the room that I may not have included, please feel free to forward the invite—the more voices the better.

For far too long, Black women have faced systemic disparities in maternal health outcomes, including higher rates of maternal mortality and morbidity. This week, we stand with Black mammas, affirming that their bodies are their own, and that they deserve to receive respectful, equitable, and culturally competent care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
Join us in raising awareness, promoting advocacy, and standing with Black mammas during Black Maternal Health Week. Together, we can work towards achieving equitable and just maternal health outcomes for all Black women.

Additionally, African Americans receive lower-quality health care than other groups and are more likely to forgo health insurance coverage altogether. Let's celebrate Black History Month by incorporating a healthier lifestyle into your everyday routine!
