UPDATE: Regal Beaver will be suspending live music and operations thru the end March including tonight (Tuesday) and tomorrows (Wednesday) bills. We are looking forward to resuming operations as soon as its safe to do so and anticipate a very active and exciting spring / summer for all-ages live music in the Treasure Valley. Hey Boise Independent Music Scene! Long post ALERT!!!

2 weeks ago I stepped in to help shepherd Regal Beaver thru an abrupt and difficult transition with event booking. The motive was simple: to help keep the unreal momentum in the Boise all-ages music scene moving forward. In a very short time I’ve witnessed (both as a patron and performer) the Regal Beaver become a viable venue that reputable touring bands ASK to book at (I get several requests per day!!!). And IMO this provides an amazing opportunity for local up-and-coming musicians to share and develop thier craft. You’ll remember that as little as a year ago the Boise all-ages scene was starved for viable “above board” venues. Today we’re very fortunate to have several legitimate safe and AWESOME spaces for young and old (like me!): Rama Pong, Deathproof Coffee, Shredder, Regal Beaver, and more! PLEASE don’t take this for granted or “crap” on a place because you don’t like “this thing”, or “that person”, or “whatever”. Try to appreciate it as a whole and support it! I can’t speak for the other aforementioned facilities - however what I’ve loved about Regal Beavers approach is that it is PERFORMER friendly. They DO NOT charge me as a promotor or the entertainment ANYTHING (not even a cut of the door) to put on shows. In fact they have invested in equipment and pay to staff-up during events so we can have a functional environment. Their hope is that you buy food and drink, have a good time, and come back! This all means that I have WAY more money to give to the performers at the end of the show. This information is not being shared to make anyone involved out to be a hero - rather to shed some light on what kind of investment of time and money people are making behind the scenes to help build a viable and thriving independent music scene that local and touring acts WANT to be a part of. ***Share this information (when appropriate) and help make the Boise independent music scene strong in 2020 and beyond!***

Hey-oh Boise psych / fuzz rockers and fans! I'm excited about the local bill we've got 2-nite: Lucid Aisle, Mr. Grant Olsen, and Queen Boychild. My band has practice space in the same building as Brent and Lucid Aisle. So we've been eavesdropping a bit...and its radical stuff! I'll be working the door tonight to 'shake people down for a few bucks' =) so we can get everyone involved a little cash for sharing their skills and art. We are incredibly saddened to have just learned of the passing of local up-and-coming musician and friend Caden Ravlin. We were so very fortunate to have him perform on our stage this past Saturday (he crushed it!) and will miss him both as a friend and musician. All of our best to his family at this very difficult time.

Check Drakulas out...seriously. Made up of members of some of the better straight-forward garage rock and roll (Riverboat Gamblers) and melodic / punk (Rise Against) of the past 20 years - you can be sure they will cram the small but friendly confines of Regal Beaver with HUGE sound next Thursday (Feb 27th). We are super lucky to have them coming to town! And the supporting bill is NUTZ and would be a killer bill in-and-of-itself featuring SPELLS (Denver punk on Rad Girlfriend Records), and always reliably awesome locals The Jerkwadz & MEAT TOWN. It would be SILLY to miss this one.
