Surprise for Saturday. I was asked to bring in some floofs a few days early for fair kids and other silkie lovers that have work on Monday mornings.

HERES THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Swedish Flower straight run chicks are sold out in major hatcheries where they offer them at 24 to 29 per chick. Which is insane. Here they have been 12 in hopes of getting them established. Tmrw I decided to say thank you to the valley for their lovely support by offering the last 2024 hatch at 1/2 off. Yep. 6️⃣ FCFS

💥No silkies til next week, they’re all headed home to auction recipients and 4H kiddos. But next week for final silkie drop, I have 25 that will be a week old and ready to go. Several chocolates finally. 🙌

It has begun. The goats all voted to be overdue in time for the Winter Weather Advisory (aka) Severe Weather alert, 4th winter, snow since 8 am, 27 degrees tonight. Y’all know the drill that they do…

Dahlia is first with quads. Bless her heart we realized she has had 17 babies over 4 kiddings. She’s a rockstar. Deserves to step down from Quint Queen. 2 boys, 2 girls doing well, fed, sleeping.

2 more does in maternity ward (Arizona and Montana)battling for second spot. Taking a long time I’m headed back out in 30 min hoping not to have to pull kids.

Farm Friday! It’s goat baby weekend! First does due tmrw so I’m a little late, but shaved the bums today. It doesn’t look super pretty, but easier for clean up and babies to find food! Also, I can gauge labor by when their udder fills or “pops” significantly so that is very helpful. Everyone still has ligaments but we definitely are headed for a fun few days with those udders!

Yep, Lavender Ameracaunas landed at the ranch today. Some friends remember Olivia, she was 6 and passed recently, I absolutely loved her calm docile personality. Thank you to Meet the Bawker's Farm for making this little set available. They are gorgeous and sweet. Definitely look for chicks next spring!
