Notes: Maiola Kalili at left, Manuela at right. Maiola and Manuela won silver medals for swimming in the 4×200 freestyle relay at the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles. The other members of the relay team were Frank Booth and George Fissler. Manuela also competed in the 100 meter freestyle at the same Olympics, placing 4th and missing the bronze medal by less than half of a second.

Who We Are

The Hawaiˋi’s Daughters Guild was established in 1970 by a small group of Hawaiian women who had gathered together to share customs, recall days gone by shared with family and friends, learn coping mechanisms for living away from home, and to better educate their children. Although college scholarships existed for young men and women, it was more difficult for women to find assistance. This led to the birth of the Hawaiˋi’s Daughters Guild; a club dedicated to perpetuating the arts and cultural values of Hawaiˋi while working to assist young women of Polynesian ancestry achieve their educational objectives. To date, the club has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships.
