Our Story

Hapkido incorporates kicks, punches, throws, joint-locks (breaks) and immobilization techniques. It is a versatile style of martial arts that teaches you distance and close contact self defense. The attacks focus on the weakest parts of the opponent’s body, known as pressure points. The defensive movements are circular motions designed to neutralize attackers. You will develop awareness, sense of safe distance, as well as fitness, flexibility and stamina.

Grand Master Kwang Seek Hyun brought Hapkido into the United States in 1969. He currently holds the highest black belt and his school has been in the Same location at the corner of N. Western, Elston, and Diversey for over 4 decades.
