IFTAR DISTIBUTION POLICY UPDATE

Salam DIC Community and thank you for your cooperation over the last few days as we work on ways to better accommodate the Iftar demand at DIC. Due to overwhelming and extremely fluctuating numbers at Iftar, we have implemented a new policy for daily Iftars at DIC inshallah.

We will have capacity for 150 meals daily on a first come first serve basis with tickets distributed at Maghrib. You must have a ticket in order to obtain a meal. We regret if this causes any inconvenience to our Musallis but it was the only way to continue the service and balance the resources at hand.

Any and all are ofcourse welcome to grab a date, water and pray Maghrib with us but take note that only those individuals holding a ticket will be guaranteed meals. Given the numbers this year, we reccommend having backup plans given brothers and sisters are fasting.

Apologies for any confusion and hardship this causes, I hope we can all benefit from the program and make the most of this blessed month. We will continue to work on this to better accommodate the needs of our community in the future but this will be the policy until further notice.

UPDATE ON DIC IFTARS:

Salam Dear DIC Community. We hope and pray that you have had a blessed start to the holy month of Ramadan. We here at DIC are working hard to play our part in facilitating the best possible Majid experience for you to maximize the blessings of this sacred month.

Yesterday we had an overwhelming response to our daily community Iftars where almost 2x the amount of people showed up than our normal attendance. DIC is not equipped space, personnel and food allotment to handle such a crowd. We did our best to accommodate yesterday but will lot be able to sustain such a crowd on a daily basis.

To ensure all those fasting get meals please have a backup option in the even we hit capacity which is a very high likelihood.

To better facilitate Iftar moving forward, we will institute a better process in the next days to ensure that there is an effective way to manage Iftar capacity.

We estimate safely having approximately 150 meals on a daily basis. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes our Musallis but we prepare based on historical numbers and such a huge fluctuation is hard to manage. Thank you in advance for your continued cooperation. We look forward to a productive Ramadan for all inshallah.

Downtown Islamic Center Ramadan 2024 Taraweeh Schedule (Public) Note on Convention: In the Usmani Mushaf, Juz’ are segmented by Hizb (½ of a juz’) and Rubu’ (⅛ of a juz’). One juz is two hizb, and one hizb is four rubu’. Meaning 1 and a 1 half juz’ is 1 juz and 1 hizb, and 1 and 1 quarter juz’ is 1 juz and 2 rubu’, for example.
