The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), with grant support from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is providing this free OSHA 10-Hour Training. This roadway construction-focused program discusses hazard analysis in the workplace. Participants will also receive 3 hours of Preventing Runovers and Backovers and Caught In or Between (Heavy Equipment), Overexertion and Heat Hazards in Construction; electrocution, working with ladders and scaffolds, confined space, excavation & trenching, Silica and lead, and participants will also receive the 1.5-Hour Fall Protection (which focuses on training to protect workers against falls, especially in roadway construction).
This training helps give employees the information they need to be able to identify and correct hazards they might encounter in a construction environment.
Attendees who successfully complete this training will obtain a DOL-OSHA 10-Hour course completion card.

Our LTAP team has enjoyed working with several instructors from FHWA this week to host training sessions on Fixing Urban and Suburban Arterials (June 11) and Advancing Implementation of the Safe System Approach (June 13) here at ODOT Central Office in Columbus. We enjoyed sharing LTAP information at the ODOT District 7 Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 23rd. There was a great level of interest in the upcoming free sessions of OSHA 10-Hour Training at regional locations throughout Ohio. Also, the good news is spreading fast about the Project Management Training Program (PMTP) eLearning series! Persons who would like to receive a PMTP training recognition certificate can do so by completing all 26 modules. The Ohio LTAP Center was pleased to partner with the Central Ohio Chapter of APWA yesterday by providing a Work Zone Traffic Control & Safety Workshop in Groveport. There were more than 60 participants, which included Road and Street Departments from Groveport, Grove City, Dublin, Springfield, and the Franklin County Engineer's Office. The presenter was our Safety Circuit Rider, Raymond Brushart, and a big Thank you to Brian Strayer of APWA for organizing this event, which included lunch!

Greetings from NACE 2024 in beautiful Palm Springs! Ohio LTAP is pleased to participate in this great conference and it was awesome to run into this table of fabulous Ohioans at this morning's Opening Ceremony.
Ohio LTAP is pleased this morning to be a part of the first ever Holmes County Grants Fair hosted by Holmes County Engineer Chris Young, PE, PS. Attendees were able to learn about available grant opportunities from funding agencies and then participate in a trade show style event with Grantors. We were pleased to be present with the Ohio Mid Eastern Governments Association (OMEGA) the Regional Transportation Planning Organization (RTPO) for Homles County and the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC).
We also enjoyed participating in the CEAO Storm Water Management & Drainage Conference in Westerville last week! It was great to visit with the CEAO team and the conference attendees.
Ohio LTAP is pleased to be participating in the 2024 Ohio Safety Congress, hosted by the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. There are thousands of people here!
April is Work Zone Awareness Month, but the Ohio LTAP Safety Circuit Rider has already been out there training local governments on Work Zone Traffic Control & Safety. Here he is in action, training the Streets and Utilities crews from the Village of Richfield and Richfield Township yesterday. He's got lots more of these trainings scheduled between now and July. The Ohio LTAP Center was pleased to participate in the annual Central Ohio Engineers Week Luncheon yesterday at the Villa Milano. The special guest speaker was astronaut, Don Thomas, of the "All-Ohio Space Shuttle Mission". Our thanks to everyone who attended the Funding & Resources Workshop (Show Me the Money!) yesterday. We also appreciate the excellent presentations provided by speakers from ODOT, FHWA, ODNR, and OEPA.
Last week’s Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference (OTEC) at the convention center here in Columbus was a great success, with over 4,200 attendees! This annual two-day event is the largest state-level engineering conference in the nation. Our thanks to everyone who stopped by our LTAP display booth to say hello and learn more about our upcoming training opportunities.
We were pleased to be invited to attend last night's Monroe County Township Association and Monroe County Engineer's (Amy Zwick) Annual Fall Banquet. We prepared packets of LTAP resources for each township and spoke briefly about the advantages of actively participating in our program. If you'd like for us to attend your township meeting or county engineer annual meeting as part of our LTAP Outreach, please let us know.
The ORIL Board for Ohio’s Research Initiative for Locals convened last week (on October 4) to review and discuss recently-submitted ideas for suggested research topics. Based on the Board’s evaluation process, three topics have been identified to move forward for the FY2025 ORIL program. Stayed tuned for future updates this winter from Ohio LTAP and ODOT’s Research Section. We have been pleased to participate in the Southwest Ohio Chapter of APWA's Public Works Expo for the past couple of days at the Dayton Convention Center. This conference has been very well attended by the local government agencies in the southwest region of Ohio. Ohio LTAP 's Mike Fitch and Raymond Brushart presented at technical sessions on Monday and hosted the Ohio LTAP booth on Tuesday.
