The Aviation Accreditation Board International’s Annual Meeting provided an opportunity for some center staff to convene with industry and higher education professionals for learning and networking. While there, Assistant Director of Academics and Program Assessment Shannon Morrison led the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee through a mock lesson on the topic of utilizing diversity, equity and inclusion to help address workforce development challenges.

For the last century, Ohio State’s flight program has been educating, training and empowering young aviators from the classroom to the cockpit. The Center for Aviation Studies welcomes industry member Frontier Precision to our final demo event of the semester. They will demonstrate how a variety of drones and sensors can be used to monitor and map the environment. Flights will occur throughout the event time – attendees are welcome to stop by any time. The event will be held in The Ohio State University's Controlled Environment Complex at Waterman Farms.

The event is open to faculty, staff, students and members of the public. No registration required.

The third annual Ohio Air Mobility Symposium, Re-Defining Ohio Skies: Investments in Innovation, was held at The Ohio State University March 29-30, 2023. Led by a team of students driven to further advanced air mobility, this year’s symposium focused on Ohio’s investments in workforce development, infrastructure and regulatory framework across the rapidly growing industry.

Our aviation group had the honor today of visiting former alumni Don Scott’s memorial, who was an All-American Football player and starter Quarterback for the buckeyes. Don was a commissioned pilot who served in WWII and died defending his country. Ohio State’s airport was named in his honor.

-at Stonehenge, our buckeye engineers figured out how this structure was built

A group of Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) students at The Ohio State University, who are all on track to becoming United States Navy pilots, created and executed a realistic flight simulator that includes a virtual reality headset and a chair that gives a sense of motion and immersiveness into the flight experience.
