Ride Weekend 2024 is off to an amazing start! ๐ด๐
To all the Riders, Volunteers, Spectators, and the rest of the Pelotonia community - you are truly making this weekend one to remember.
We hope youโre having the best time!
AND WEโRE OFF! ๐จ๐ด
Ride Weekend has officially started! The first wave of 100-mile Riders have left the chute at McFerson Commons. Soon, thousands of Riders will be on the roads of Central Ohio, riding together with a shared goal of Ending Cancer. ๐
The energy was ELECTRIC as CLUBHOUSE performed at Opening Ceremony tonight! โก๏ธ๐๐ถ
We hope you had the best time jamming out to Clubhouse to close an amazing Opening Ceremony program.
The Pelotonia mission is personal to the band - lead singer, Max Reichert, is currently battling osteosarcoma and shared some of his incredible journey with the community tonight.
Tomorrow, band members Ari and Zak Blumer will join many of you on the 20-mile route, riding in honor of Max and others in their life impacted by cancer ๐
Send Clubhouse some love in the comments below - weโre so grateful they gave us the best performance at Opening Ceremony tonight!
Introducing our special guests at Opening Ceremony tonight!
Molly Ranz Calhoun, President and CEO of the Ohio State University Alumni Association, and Dr. Margaret Gatti-Mays, Section Chief of Breast Medical Oncology at the OSUCCC-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute joined us on the stage tonight at Opening Ceremony.
These two women are incredible people who hold a very special bond - Dr. Maggie Gatti-Mays is a cancer researcher, physician, and 5-year participant riding 50 miles tomorrow!
Molly Ranz Calhoun leads the OSU Alumni Association, is co-captain of Team Buckeye, and a 7-year rider tackling the 100-mile route tomorrow with her sons.
Shortly after Ride Weekend last year, Molly was diagnosed with breast cancer. With guidance from Dr. Gatti-Mays and the team at the OSUCCC-James, Molly is now cancer-free.
Together, they shared incredible personal stories of survivorship and the impact your funding has on research at the OSUCCC-James and around the world.
Weโre thankful for the both of them for joining us on stage tonight! They certainly filled the community with so much inspiration as we get ready for Ride Weekend tomorrow ๐
Kicking off Ride Weekend 2024 in the greatest way possible! ๐
Weโre having the best time celebrating this amazing community at Opening Ceremony!
We hope youโre having a blast as you get ready for Ride Weekend tomorrow! ๐
Whoโs ready for Opening Ceremony tonight? ๐
We canโt wait for CLUBHOUSE to headline the event - itโs going to be a performance you DONโT want to miss.
See you TONIGHT! ๐ฅณ๐

5 years ago today, The Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO) was established with an initial pledge of $102,265,000 from the Pelotonia community. The 2,265 in that donation came from the number of Riders that participated in the inaugural Pelotonia ride in 2009.
Your mission to accelerate innovative cancer research combined with your commitment to raising funds helped launch a comprehensive bench-to-bedside immuno-oncology research institute focused on life-saving breakthroughs to fight cancer at the OSUCCC-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
Today, the PIIO attracts the best and brightest minds in cancer research, accelerating the development of cancer immunotherapies that harness the bodyโs immune system to fight cancer at all levels โ from prevention to survivorship.
Join us in honoring this milestone as we celebrate the achievements of the PIIO and the incredible impact our community is making on Ending Cancer!

This year's SpokesKIDS ride is organized by new volunteer leads, 7x Rider Kelly Clarry, and community volunteer Brittany Smith.
SpokesKIDS targets a slightly older age range of kids than some of the other Pelotonia Kids rides (SpokesKIDS Jr. is on the same morning at 10:30am, but for kids in pre-K to 3rd grade).
SpokesKIDS also offers a longer route and places an emphasis on fundraising for youth participants. Each Rider commits to a minimum fundraising of $100, similar to Pelotonia Challengers.
SpokesKIDS Event Details:
๐Day of registration available at 10:30am
๐ฒ Kick-off at OneLove Cafe and Bikes, with bike safety and tire checks
๐8-mile route on T.J. Evans Trail
๐ฃ Spectators cheering along the scenic route which includes downtown Granville, a Ride Weekend favorite
