🐴Come watch our Benton County 4-H Horse members compete at Horse Fair. The competition happens before the Benton County Fair starting this week Thursday, July 18–Sunday, July 21 at the Benton County Fairgrounds beginning at 9:30 am daily!
This is a great place to see 4-H members participate in cow roping, trail, western and English equitation, dressage, horse psychology, gymkhana, marketing, and other classes. There’s no admission charge for this event. These members have worked hard all year and love to have spectators attend!
FUN FAIR OPPORTUNITY! 4-H Information Booth
4-H members are invited to sign up for a shift in the 4-H information booth at the Benton County Fair. Our Benton County 4-H Ambassadors (older youth) will coordinating shifts and need help staffing the booth with youth.
Participants will talk to the public about 4-H, share their experiences in the program and hand out goodies/giveaway items. Members can earn a point on their exhibitor award application if offered for the specific project area.
We must have at least two members per time slot so sign up with a friend! Registration is open and online. The link has been emailed to all leaders and members.
FUN FAIR OPPORTUNITY! 4-H Marketing Contest 🗣
A 4-H member with any type of animal could participate in this class. The 4-H’er must bring their animal in front of a judge or multiple judges. The member will verbally promote and sell their animal to the judge(s). This class will encourage public speaking, knowledge of project and presentations. Registration is OPEN ONLINE! On Saturday, June 29th there will be a tribute through the K-LO Open Golf Tournament to remember Kyle Loeschen, a former Benton County 4-Her. It will be held at Trysting Tree Golf Club. The proceeds raised from this tournament will go directly to benefit the Benton County 4-H Program.

🐑 SHEEP CLINIC HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND! This is open to anyone who would like to participate. There will be hands-on practice so bring your lambs!
Participants can access the Benton County Fairgrounds from the South Parking Lot on Reservoir Road. The event will begin in the bleachers by Guerber Hall (where the main show ring is during fair)
Showmanship practice will be in the Oak Grove, so parents and others may want to bring lawn chairs for seating. We hope to see you all there!

YQCA Certification - Clackamas County
Are you planning to bring an animal to the Oregon 4-H State Fair this year? You are REQUIRED to be take a Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) class in order to attend. This is a multi species quality assurance program for youth age 8 to 18, and you can take this training online or in person. Clackamas County will be offering an in person training open to all 4-H members.
When: July 1st, 10am-12pm
Where: North Willamette Research and Extension Center
How Much: $3 for this in person class
ARE YOU LEASING AN ANIMAL FOR 4-H?? If so, a copy of the lease agreement specifying the responsibilities must be on file at the 4-H office, by JUNE 1. (Exception: Horse due April 15). You can submit the copies via email to Kelly or you can drop off a hard copy to the 4-H office. Since the deadline is Saturday we have extended it to 5pm, Monday, June 3.
