Could you imagine trying to navigate your freshman year of college without any support? That’s a true reality for lots of foster youth across the country.

Did you know only 3% of foster youth will graduate from college with a bachelor’s degree? Join me in helping Greater Than Expectations support 13 foster youth as they start their freshman year.

We’ve partnered with interior designers and to create a beautiful and comfortable space for our students to rest and excel! Now more than ever, we need your support in helping us secure our remaining supplies.

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make Freshman Fresh, our dorm room makeover project for 10 foster care alumni, a success on Thursday, August 10th! And we’re officially in countdown mode.

Did you know that only 3-7% of foster youth will graduate college with a Bachelor's degree? Ironically, more than 70% of foster youth express a desire to go to college.

GTE is excited to launch our newest program Freshman Fresh. GTE will partner with UNT-Denton's P.U.S.H Program to support deserving foster youth entering their first year of college at UNT-Dallas. The Freshman Fresh season starts with a Freshman Fresh Dorm Room renovation project focused on providing aesthetically pleasing, learning-centered, and downright fun dorm spaces for scholars. Throughout the entire first year, scholars can participate in programming designed to help transitioning scholars prepare for what's beyond their high school years. Freshman Fresh with GTE will host webinars focusing on navigating social interactions at college, self-advocacy at school, financial literacy, the importance of mental and physical health, and more. to be a part of this year’s Kids’ Day in Court! Students were able to to hear from various careers associated with the law. After hearing from the law professionals students were able to hear from GTE and shop in our clothing closet.

We are so excited to announce this year's scholarship recipient. Adoniah is a high achieving scholar from California. She looks forward to enjoying the HBCU experience. Some fun facts about Adoniah is that she loves to take photos of sunsets and she is an amazing poet. Congratulations! Adoniah, we are so proud of you.

As we close out , we wanted to remind you why the work you’re supporting is so important. With your help, we are ensuring that the foster youth we serve are ! Keep an eye out for some exciting initiatives we have coming up for some of our recent graduates to ensure they rise to their greatest potential!

May is foster care awareness month. wants to provide important information to our following. We are here to support those that are apart of the system and those that age out.

Greater Than Expectations had the pleasure of partnering with Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for the ”Sweet” case drive for foster youth. GTE was able to donate 15 bags full of supplies including hygiene products, blankets, books, word searches, gift cards and so much more. We are excited to bless 15 deserving teens in the DFW area. The Dallas Alumnae chapter was was able to collect over 280+ bags for deserving youth. It brings us great joy to be a small part of bigger impact.

Do you know of a high school senior (anywhere in the USA) that has been apart of the foster care system? If so, spread the word and let them know they qualify for one of our scholarships. Our two scholarship recipients will have a happy holiday due to the generous donations of several women owned businesses in Dallas, TX. Each recipient will receive a holiday basket filled with items ranging from self-care, mindfulness, relaxation, beauty and gift cards to their favorite stores.
