~The Lovers~
The lovers card isn’t bare legs tangled in silk sheets or romantic dinners by the fireplace. At a crossroads, Adam and Eve are depicted in the garden of Eden, Eve by the tree of knowledge and Adam standing by the tree of life as it burns. This tends to mean that an important choice needs to be made. And what’s love if not a choice? Lucky for you, you can shrug off impossible choices for one night. The only question begging an answer is: To drink or not to drink?

However, drink with caution ⚠️ One too many and you might end up falling in love with an underwater lizard man like the woman in the lovers card below.

~Nyár Végi Tészta~
This dish is a late summer nights dream. Cooler weather calls for comfort food! Even though we aren’t quite feeling the relief of fall weather, it is nice to not melt into a puddle immediately upon walking outside. Now we can start dreaming of squash, knot sweaters, and pumpkin spiced everything; including noodles. 🍝
Fresh tagliatelle pasta, summer squash, Hungarian summer sausage, sans pistachio mortadella. Dressed with onions and garlic everything coated with a white wine lemon butter.

⚠️New Cocktails ⚠️
Reminiscent of a cloud, Kakigōri is a Japanese dessert made from thinly shaved ice from a pure ice block once taken from frozen lakes, but now can be made at home with the help of a very small, very expensive, car battery powered ice machine. Fluffier than a snow one and yet more flavorful than air itself, these cocktails are the most iconic way to drink in the August heat.

When facing the inevitable fork in the road of your life, one must make a choice. As long as you trust and enjoy the process, the decision will become clear to you. It was your choice to make after all. However, when it comes to ordering dinner, is the choice really that hard when you have a Hungarian Chili Rellano looking back at you from the stiff paper of the menu? We don’t think so.

Weary from walking in the hot sun, you stop dead in your tracks. Looking to the sky, you begin to ponder why you stepped outside in the first place. Suddenly, a heavenly white light shines on a red “A.” It seems to you a mirage at first. You stumble through the door, escaping the heat waves. The soft hum of music plays around you. You ask the bartender for the most refreshing cocktail on the menu and they slide this beautiful pink drink your way. At first sip, everything falls away. The sweat on the back of your neck dries, life’s problems disappear, and you’re just sitting there. Basking in the peace of this sweet moment, you take another sip.

Horrible things are all around us. We all think of horrible things. We see horrible things in the news. We listen to the horrible things Danzig gave voice to. But that’s punk rock for you.

Despite its name, the Last Caress packs a powerful punch of flavors. Bittersweet like reminiscing forgotten adventures of the past. Nutty like the bizarre and disquieting lyrics of a Misfit song. A cocktail that represents the dichotomous sound of punk rock music: both melodious and cacophonous at the same time.
Hungarian Unicum Amaro, Angostura Amaro, Rye Whiskey, Lemon, Orgeat, & Eggwhite.

New windows AND a new sign?! Who even is she?

For years we’ve had one of the most, if not the most, ambiguous entrance in Deep Ellum. Like the secret door to Narnia, it was easy to walk past our giant, steely entrance and think, “that place can’t possibly be open.” Only those with a curious and adventurous heart might dare to grab the handle and pull on the unnecessarily heavy wooden door.

The ambiguity and danger associated with doorways and thresholds were a common fear amongst the ancient Romans. To ease the fear of passing through an unknown portal, the Romans outfitted their public spaces with protective statues and mosaics. We decided to learn from them. Instead of constructing n**e statues, we chose the cheaper route and fashioned a bright red neon that says our name, “Armoury.”

Next up on educational material from the ancient Romans: a new sewage system for Deep Ellum.

We added some fresh afternoon light to our space. The walls look less like the dark, damp, brick of a medieval dungeon and more like the dewy, fresh, brick brightened by the sunlight of a fresh, new day.

The new windows are an invitation: come. have a drink. Stay awhile.

~Strammer Max”
Is it a tartine, bread baser, or simply open-faced sandwich? The truth is , it’s doesn’t matter. Why worry about the what’s and why’s when the truth of it is staring you right in the face with two bright yellow, eager eyes. Open-faced, open mouths, and open hearts are all that dreams are made of at the dinner table.

Our monthly feature, known as the “Strammer Max,” is a staple sandwich in Germany. What is enjoyed as a simple pleasure in another country can now be shared across the globe in a more complex and equally alluring form. All we had to do was add schnitzel. 😉
Open-faced schnitzel sandwich, roasted garlic and Hungarian peppers, prosciutto, swiss cheese and topped with two “ouef miroi.”

Our cocktails aren’t all smoke & mirrors, but this one is “Black Magick.” Our drinks are made with the intention of bringing you joy. Upon ordering you might watch the smoke billowing out of a cocktail with a amazement and wonder, “will it taste as good as it looks?” We can assure you it does.

All jokes aside, there’s nothing quite as regal as a glass of fine wine and aged cheese on a crafted wooden board, is there?
St. Daniele prosciutto, milton creamery 4 alarm cheddar, burrata & pink peppercorns, pickled cucumbers, served with texas toast.

The sound of glasses clinking together is like the sound of a dinner bell, except it calls for more than just a well cooked meal. It’s a signal for connection and conversation. When you raise your glass to the person opposite you, what do you feel but the warmth and comfort of camaraderie?

The sun is shining, birds are chirping, and we haven’t been hit with the unrelenting heat of Texas summers yet. A peaceful picnic on the patio at Armoury, with an assortment of cured meats and exotic cheeses, is just what the day has in store for you.
