You are not alone! Parent coaching can transform your family dynamics. 😮💨
Working together with my son was sparked by a devastating and staggering statistic: “40% of youth su***des are preceded by intense conflict with parents.” As a mother who used to worry about her teenage son DAILY and who felt helpless about the trajectory her son was on, and a teenage boy who struggled deeply with depression and suicidality, this statistic really hit home for us.
On September 29th (tomorrow!) from 10AM-Noon, the Denver Family Institute is hosting us for a presentation where we will walk parents through the raw, messy middle of our once completely disconnected relationship and the three keys that helped us mend it. 🧡 You can join us virtually through Zoom. 🌎
By attending this talk in-person or online, you will:
⭐️Gain a deep sense of understanding for parents and teens who struggle to connect

3 things you teen wants you to know 💕 We asked teens all over the country “what do you wish your parents knew?” and were amazed by the vulnerable, heartfelt responses we received 💌

One of our favorite sayings to share with parents is to stay “calm and curious” 😊 When your tween or teen shares something hard or meaningful with you, try to take a deep breath. Pause. And ask them inviting questions.
This will give them space to share without the fear that you might jump in instantly with advice, correction, or frustration.
Let us know how it goes this week! 🙌🏼

We are hosting a FREE webinar on Sunday August 27th at 4pm MT. We will share practical solutions to help you:
☀️Stop yelling
☀️Be the parent you want to be
☀️Create a closer, more connected family
This has been a topic I have spoken with clients about for years and have done a lot of my own learning about as a marriage and family therapist and as a mom. It is also a topic Palmer spends a lot of time on in his training to be a marriage and family therapist at Northwestern University. We want to share what we have learned with YOU so you have the skills to break the yelling cycle. 🙌
If this is a topic you want to dive into with us, register for free at the link in bio 😊
A year ago today, it was a piece of heaven walking down the aisle with Palmer at his wedding where he married his best friend. The mother-son dance? Bliss…. Especially after all the work we’ve done to repair a broken relationship. Happy one year anniversary, Palmer!! Wishing you a lifetime of happy anniversaries with Anabelle!! I love you. 💕

We know there are seasons when life feels busy or family time feels hard. While this video shows us having fun as a family, it was not always this way. We used to think of our blended family of six kids as a “blendered” family. It was messy and hard.
So our challenge to you is this: make space for fun together. Find LITTLE ways to laugh and play as a family consistently. If you need some inspiration, we have a free list of 20 ideas of ways to have fun as a family. Click the link in bio to download it! 😊💛

You plan a beautiful family vacation with dreams of fun family time and sweet memories… but then reality hits. Your kids start fighting. BIG time. Your 16 year old bails on the activity you planned months ago. Everyone is on edge.
Any of this sound familiar? It sure does to us 😅 Our most beautiful family vacay picture hanging in our house was taken a couple days after our worst family fight. Ever.
Our mission is to help parents create a close, connected family from the inside out. So when things feel hard or scary with our kids (or our well-planned family vacation blows up), we can still show up well and with love.
We are hosting a webinar to talk about what parenting from the inside out really looks like. Here are the details! 👇🏼

It’s easy to think we do our partners a favor by continually putting them first and keeping the peace at all costs. But it’s a paradox: if we lose ourselves, we lose our ability to connect authentically and intimately with our beloved partners. “Keeping the peace” ends up meaning we stifle ourselves. Rather than experiencing peace, we end up feeling irritable.
If you are looking across a large chasm between you and your partner, part of the solution might be coming home to yourself.
Double tap if you agree!

We celebrate our children’s growth at the same time we ache about the loss of their littleness.
Whatever stage of your child's development you are in, I send love. I hope you are gentle with yourself as you navigate the transitions that get reflected rather clearly every back-to-school season.

I get it. You're a good mom, you care about your family, and you want to be there for everyone in it. But sometimes, it feels like you care for everyone and forget about YOU.
As a therapist who works primarily with moms, I've seen this happen over and over: women who have dropped their self-care in the process of trying to be good partners and mothers. They've taken on more of the household responsibilities than is reasonable; they've given up hobbies that bring them joy; they've put their needs behind those of everyone else in their families. Their lives feel full, but a bit too full of everyone else's needs and a lot short of what it takes to keep themselves in balance. They are fundamentally loving, generous women with huge hearts — and yet they are out of balance.
Can you relate? Please comment below!

Healing our past helps us show up well in the present, which impacts our future. Courage is required, but it takes just one person doing their work to start changing generational patterns.
Emotional work helps us find more peace, calm, and acceptance on the inside. This translates to more peace, calm, and acceptance on the outside.
If someone asked me, “What do you wish you had known about motherhood?” I would answer, “I had no idea how much I would be stretched to do my self-growth to show up for my kids.” From parenting skills to self-awareness to healthy relationships. I’ve needed to grow in all those aspects for the sake of casting the ripples that I want for our family life.
I am holding you and the generations before and after you in love.

The very essence of parenting is about falling in and out of balance, in and out of connection, in and out of inner calm.
We find a moment of connection. Then we lose it. There is no such thing as staying perfectly balanced in the same position indefinitely. And yet, every parent I know (and I know a lot of them!) laments the times they’ve been out of balance. Most think they should be in a more constant state of balance and connection.
If we always lived a perfectly balanced life with perfectly balanced parenting and if we never struggle, we will not grow. We will just be living a kind of embalmed life. The psychoanalyst Adam Phillips said, “Unbalancing acts are a vital and indicative part of our aliveness.”
Agree or disagree? Please share your thoughts below!
P.S. I am about to open the doors to a place for moms to be real, connect, and build their own skills in the process.
Will I see you there?
