URI transfer Sean Magarian fired the day's best 6-under par 65 at CT National to lead 204 golfers at Gately Cup. Christooher Fosdick (67), Tripp Hollister (69), Teresa Esposito (75), Lukas Schleyer (72) and Ned Yetten Jr. (72) hold the overnight lead in their respective divisions.
Nick Pandelena fired a 7-under par 65 en route to top honors at the Ocean State Shootout at Triggs GC. Panda’s eight birdie effort was 2-strokes clear of Eric Egloff and Ian Thimble. Moses Brown senior Parker Kroll carded a 1-under par 71 to earn low amateur honors. By virtue of his performance he has earned a spot in the Doral Publix Junior Classic in December.
The Nation is ablaze and the Northern Junior Championship spikes it tomorrow.
Sweet start to the month for Nick Pandelena. A tidy 5 red for the win at the Manchester Open.
The Ocean State Shootout is scheduled for August 8th at Triggs Memorial GC in Providence, RI. The tournament will also be a qualifier for the Doral Junior Classic in December (for Boys 14-18). Anyone interested in joining us should register soon. Here is the registration link:
Joey Lenane lapped the field at the Massachusetts Public Links Championship by posting a blistering 13-under par total, 11-strokes clear of the field. With the win Lenane has entered the race for Mass Golf Player of the Year honors.
Another scintillating edition of the Wampanoag Classic is in the books. Ty Ford birdied the 16th and 17th holes to force a playoff with Will Lord in the Boys 15-18 Division. Much like last year's marathon between Perkins and Rosati, Ford parred the 5th playoff hole to outlast Lord for his first Challenge Cup title. While these lads were staging a brilliant battle, Tucker Silva (Men's Collegiate) and Isabella Salerno (Girls) coasted to victory in their respective divisions. In the Boys 14 & Under Division James Sagnella rallied to edge Tyler Dearborn for top honors. Many thanks to the Wampanoag membership, Beth Georger, Donny Kirkpatrick and Dave Parsons for the exceptional hospitality and impeccable course conditions. A special thanks to Paul Butler for iniating our relationship with Wamp 13 years ago. I have many fond memories of our time at Butler's Cabin with Steve DeSantis.

Just spent the last two hours with Joe Guise getting live updates from Mark Baldwin, who was covering the Rocket Mortgage Monday Qualifier. Joe is helping us run the Dale Smith Junior Stroke Play this week. He and I were stress maxing as the play-off lasted over 2 hours. Danny finally birdied the 8th play-off hole to punch his ticket to this week's PGA Tour stop.

Dexter Southfield bested a field of 16 teams with a 305 team total. Iona Prep, led by medalist Felix Petrillo's 1-under par 68, finished in 2nd place 2-strokes behind DS. St. George's checked in 3rd place with a 309 total. The Prout School posted the low total amongst RIIL teams posting a 310 total, 3 strokes clear of the perennial state championship favorite LaSalle Rams.
Barrington's Lily Dessel fired a spectacular 2-over par 71 to earn medalist honors in the Girls Division. Her effort was 3-strokes better than Moses Brown stalwart Adriana Eaton.
Many thanks to Hendricken coach Bobby Leopold , Dave Moynihan from Titleist, Warwick CC and their respective professional staffs. The players were treated to a spectacular day. The course was in impeccable condition.
A tip of the cap to Rick Angeli, who is the architect of this event. The Hendi Invitational is one of the premiere high school competitions in New England.
LaSalle Academy had to work overtime for their 3rd consecutive victory at the McCampbell Cup. The Rams finished regulation deadlocked with Barrington HS with a 311 total. On the first playoff hole LaSalle posted 4 pars, while Barrington carded 3 pars and a bogey. Prout's Rocco Capalbo and Moses Brown's Adriana Eaton earned medalist honors in their respective divisions. Capalbo played a nearly flawless round en route to a 1-over par 72, 1-stroke clear of Nick Emery. Eaton was equally impressive in posting a 2-over par 73 for top honors amongst the girls. Eaton finished 6-strokes clear of Barrington's Lily Dessel. The McCampbell Cup pays tribute to Mike McCampbeel, who left us way too early. It is an honor to remember Mike through this event annually. Many thanks to the RICC membership and Kyle Phelps for their support of this event. The course was in impeccable condition and the players were treated with exceptional hospitality. The McCampbell Cup concludes 9 consecutive tournament days of Challenge Cup play. A special thanks to my wife and daughter for making this stretch a reality.

Happy Thanksgiving! The best holiday of the season. A day to reflect on all that we are thankful for. I am thankful for my family and friends. It has been my lifelong credo to establish an extended family environment in every facet of life. Best wishes on a happy, enjoyable day to Challenge Cup Nation and all those who I have shared lifelong memories with.
Wishing our Challenge Cup families a Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Congrats to Morgan Peterson, who is headed to University of Dayton.

It doesn't get much better than this. Former Challenge Cup top gun and NC State sophomore, Joey Lenane, got to meet the Golden Bear at the Folds of Honor Collegiate. Lenane and Florida State ace Cole Anderson will match shots with many of college golf's top players in this event, which recognizes the many soldiers we have lost.
The floodgates are open! It was just a matter of time. One of my proudest days in Challenge Cup history.
Ethan Whitney and Weston Jones fired a sizzling 10-under par 61 at Connecticut National to win the DeSantis Fourball. The duo finished 2-strokes clear of Eric and Jack Boulger and Nick Cummings and Cam Harlock. The "Big Show" tees off tomorrow, as over 200 players will match shots in the Gately Cup.
