Heartbreaking news out of Alabama
Alabama high school football player dies of brain injury sustained during game Quarterback Caden Tellier, 16, was injured during a tackle while playing for the John T. Morgan Academy in Selma, Alabama, on Friday.
The Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island is deeply saddened the learn of the loss of NJ Congressman Bill Pascrell Jr., whose legacy is defined by his unwavering dedication to the brain injury community. As the founder of the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force in 2001, he has been a tireless advocate, leading initiatives like the annual Brain Injury Awareness Day on Capitol Hill. His pivotal role in passing the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Act in 2008, 2014, and 2018—the only federal law specifically addressing civilian brain injury—has transformed state support systems and improved countless lives. His recent efforts to pass the TBI Program Reauthorization Act and the TBI and PTSD Law Enforcement Training Act further underscored his deep commitment to the TBI community.
Congressman Pascrell’s legacy as a champion for people with brain injuries will be remembered with immense respect and gratitude. The Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island deeply feels this loss and will honor his memory by continuing the vital work he championed, inspired by his enduring commitment to improving care and services for those in need.
