WHO IS THE NEW YORK JETS MOST UNDER-APPRECIATED PLAYER?

In an article published on Thursday afternoon, NFL.com’s Gennaro Filice chose every team’s most underappreciated player. His choice for the New York Jets: tight end Tyler Conklin.

Explaining the selection, Felice writes, “Heading into the final season of a three-year, $20.25 million deal, Conklin has provided solid ROI to Joe Douglas, especially considering the motley crew of quarterbacks who’ve thrown him the football. With Aaron Rodgers under center in 2024, Conklin’s set up for success in a contract year. “And if the guy needed any extra motivation, remember when we spent months talking about tight end Brock Bowers as a no-brainer first-round pick for the Jets? Douglas instead opted for OT Olu Fashanu. Now it’s on Conklin to help prove his general manager right.”

Conklin has been a steadying force for a tumultuous Jets offense. The tight end has posted two straight seasons with over 55 receptions and 550 receiving yards, including career highs of 61 receptions and 622 yards in 2023. He can also hold his own as a blocker.

On an offense with much better talent, Conklin is positioned to make a more noticeable impact and lose the “underappreciated” tag. He will have more room to operate and a much better quarterback situation to get him the football, whether it is Aaron Rodgers or Tyrod Taylor under center.

Thought 2022-23 was the benchmark season for No. 82? Think again.

Ending the 2023-24 campaign with a career-high 71 games under his belt, Novak established personal bests in points (45), goals (18) and assists (27), and matched a career-high five-game point streak twice, first from Jan. 29 to Feb. 15 (3g-3a), then from Feb. 20 to 27 (1g-4a).

During Nashville’s franchise-record 18-game point streak from Feb. 17 to March 26, Novak provided depth scoring, putting up 12 points (4g-8a) over the span, the sixth most among his teammates.

Novak, cool and collected as ever, is of course just looking at the postseason as another opportunity to play his best hockey.

“I’m just preparing to try and compete and give it my best,” Novak said. “It’s the pinnacle of hockey, right? It’s here now and it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s what you work your whole life for, so I haven’t really thought about what I want to take away from it, I’ve just thought about what I want to do during it.”

The Philadelphia Flyers today announced the club has signed defenseman Nick Seeler to a four-year, $10.8 million contract extension ($2.7 million AAV) starting with the 2024-25 season, according to General Manager Daniel Briere.
