Hey miners, the end of the semester approaches, so does the Spring 2022 Graduation Banquet. Tickets are available in the MMBME office and must be purchased no later than Monday, May 2nd.
The parking information for the banquet will be $10 per parking ticket. If interested in going make sure to purchase tickets.

Good morning members,

We would like to invite you to the International Food Fair that will be returning to campus today: November 15th, 2021 from 11:00am to 2:00 pm.
The Biomedical Engineering Society and other organizations, will be selling food from a variety of cultures and regions. We would like to see you all there supporting the organization and having a good time. Also, this event will count as an hour for your participation hours to become an active member this semester.

Hey miners!! Meet BMES Co Public Relation Officers, Lina and Francisco !! Both have been creating and communicating with potential guest speakers both internally and externally from UTEP to talk to our members and they can’t wait to hang out with you all! Swipe to see who they are!!

Why did they join BMES?

BME helped Lina to understand how human body works and how technology can save and change lives. Lina’s goal as a mechanical engineer is to work in creating artificial limbs to help people to be able to live with full body parts again!!

Biomedical engineering is a field for innovators and Francisco wants to be part of the new groundbreaking research. Francisco plans to innovate orthopedics and practice as an orthopedic surgeon in the future!!

Why did they join BMES?
Biomedical engineering is a field that will help Perla develop new skills in technology, by combining Mechanical Engineering with medicine. It will also help her innovate projects that would help the future of medicine

In collaboration with Maria’s studies in the Biomedical science field, BME bring her a wider perspective into the ways new innovations can help others as well as change the world, our understanding of the human body and how to aid it using BME to our advantage!

Why did they join BMES?

With BME Victor seeks to provide others with a second chance of a fulfilled quality of life. His goal is to incorporate principle and main concepts of electrical engineering and biomedical engineering into the human body, more specifically the human brain to cure mental diseases through electrical stimulations

Alejandra states that observing the impact one is making in other people’s lives and knowing that a difference is being made is one of the main reasons why the biomedical engineering field is the right choice for her!

As the Fall 2021 semester comes to a start, we are eager to show you what we have planned for you this semester, but first, we wanted to announce our OFFICER ELECTIONS! We would like to officially announce that we will be opening two officer positions this semester. We are looking for individuals who possess a strong work ethic, work well in a team-oriented environment, and show great time management and flexibility. We strongly suggest that you apply for an officer position as it is a great way to build your resume, leadership skills, communication skills, and network among the biomedical engineering community. Most importantly, we are looking for officers who share a similar vision as the BMES Team does - To develop a mindset of using engineering and technology to advance human health and wellbeing.

We the officers of BMES wish you enjoyed your winter holidays! We wish you the best of luck in this upcoming Spring 2021 semester. We would like to officially announce that we will be opening two officer positions this semester. We are looking for individuals who possess a strong work ethic, work well in a team-oriented environment, and show great time management and flexibility. We strongly suggest that you apply for an officer position as it is a great way to build your resume, leadership skills, communication skills, and network among the biomedical engineering community. Most importantly, we are looking for officers who share a similar vision as the BMES UTEP Chapter Team does - To develop a mindset of using engineering and technology to advance human health and wellbeing.

To apply you must complete the following requirements:

-Must be an active member (min. of 2 hours for Fall 2020)
-Must complete the BMES Officer Application (form included below) (DUE: January 22nd, 2021 @ 11:59 pm)
-Must prepare a 1-minute speech as to why you are the best candidate. Speech will be presented at the next BMES officer meeting on January 25th, 2021 (Time TBD).

POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

Secretary -
The Secretary will be responsible for keeping a permanent record (meeting minutes) of all officer meetings. He/she will be responsible for maintaining a current roster of all members and keep communications with the National Society office. Lastly, he/she will be responsible for creating all attendance forms for such events.

Advertisement Manager -
The Advertisement Manager will be responsible for creating all flyers for such events as general meetings, webinars, social events, etc. He/she will work alongside the Social Media Manager to post any information on social media. Moreover, he/she will also be responsible for keeping communication with the members via emails that pertain to all events.
