Thanks so much to the Blue Lizard Yoga teachers and students who joined me to walk shelter dogs this morning. It was so much fun to spend a little time with everyone outside of the studio and to walk some very excited pups! Rescue Runners and El Paso Animal Services do such a good job with this event and the dogs loved getting outside. Check out rescuerunners.org to see when their next event is!
Blue Lizard Yoga turns 2 years old in March! To celebrate, we want to do something a little different this year. Therefore, we will be volunteering with Rescue Runners on Sunday, March 26 from 8-10am. Rescue Runners works with El Paso Animal Services to walk/run shelter dogs. This gives the shelter dogs a chance to get out of their kennels and stretch their legs, while also showcasing their personalities giving them a better chance of getting adopted! We love animals and look forward to helping out these sweet dogs. We hope that you and your friends and families will come out and join us to walk dogs, spend some time together, and give back to our community. We can't think of a better way to spend our second birthday!
RSVP atΒ rescuerunners.org
The link to RSVP is also in our bio and can be accessed from the calendar on our website.
We hope to see you there!
Let's practice! π§ββοΈπ§ππ
We had so much fun at the Mala Beads and Meditation workshop yesterday. Thanks so much to Jordan for teaching us how to make our own mala beads. The process was so relaxing and they turned out beautifully! πππΏ
Mantras are a single word, such as Om, or longer phrases or chants that are repeated during a meditation practice.Β The Sanskrit word mantra is derived from the root words βmanasβ, meaning the mind, and βtrainaβ, meaning to direct. The repetition of mantras are used to direct the mind by focusing our thoughts on a single word, phrase, or feeling. The vibrational energy or prΔαΉa of the Sanskrit words also gives power and meaning to the mantras. The repetition or chanting of mantras is therefore useful to practice during meditation. Mala beads are often used in mantra based meditation practices to keep track of the number of repetitions.Β
We will be making mala beads in our Mala Beads and Meditation workshop on February 4 at 1:30pm and then using them in a mantra based meditation. Cost is $30 and you can sign up at the link in our bio. Let us know if you have questions. ππ
MALA BEADS AND MEDITATION
Mala beads are used in the Yoga tradition to aid in the meditation practice. Mala is a Sanskrit word that means garland. There are usually 108 beads in a traditional mala. The beads are counted to keep track of repetitions of mantras or affirmations during mindfulness and meditation practices.
In this workshop, you will be provided with the materials needed to create your own set of mala beads to keep. Then we will use the beads for a guided meditation practice. No experience needed.
Saturday, February 4 at 1:30pm
Cost is $30. No refunds will be given.
Sign up in studio or at the link in our bio. ππ
Happy Holidays! We hope you have a safe and relaxing holiday.
Please note that we will be closed on December 24th and 25th. You can still join us the rest of the week for all of our regularly scheduled classes. We look forward to practicing with you during this wonderful time of the year! ππβ
Om is the sacred voice of the Divine and the sound or vibration that created our manifest world. Om is a mantra (chant) that is often sung at the beginning or end of an Δsana practice or repeated silently as a meditation practice. It can also be written as AUM, since O is a diphthong spelled AU.Β
The next time you feel a longing to connect more deeply with your inner calm or your highest Self, try chanting Om for several minutes and see how you feel. ππ
We celebrated the holidays with our teachers, staff, and their families today at Cave Climbing Gym. These dedicated, kind, and wonderful people are the heart and soul of Blue Lizard Yoga. I could not do this without them. I am so blessed! ππ
Thanks also to ! We had a blast!
Prana means life force energy or breath. Prana is the energy, vitality, and vibration that animates and sustains us.
We will see you on your mat! ππ
The Sanskrit word kula means community. The Blue Lizard Yoga kula is a community of practitioners who come together to move, breathe, laugh, sometimes sweat, and to share the love of yoga. On this day of giving thanks, we want to express how grateful we are to all of our teachers, staff, and students who make up our kula. And we hope that if you are looking for a yoga community, that you consider joining us. We would love to welcome you into our kula! ππ
