Did you know the 34th Judicial District Attorney’s Office also prosecutes felony cases in both Hudspeth and Culberson Counties? Spent this weekend getting to know voters in Van Horn and listening to their criminal justice concerns!

ICYMI - Yesterday, I had the opportunity to chat with Salina Madrid and Jessica Gonzalez about how the DA’s staffing shortage caused many of the problems you see and hear about in the news, including the case backlog and the delays in the Walmart case. It’s a disservice to victims and accused alike and it’s why my #1 priority is to fully staff the office.

Extremely disappointing to see the appointed DA diverting county resources away from where it’s needed most - recruiting, training, and retaining prosecutors and staff - to instead defend a clearly unconstitutional state law.
El Paso DA Bill Hicks pulls office funding for SB4 lawsuit defense after county denial El Paso District Attorney Bill Hicks announced that he will be pulling funding from two programs within his own office to pay for his defense in the SB4 lawsuit

Had a wonderful evening last night celebrating this year’s accomplishments of the Yucca Council, Boy Scouts of America! I wouldn’t be who I am today without Scouting - becoming an Eagle Scout is still one of my proudest achievements - and I’m grateful to be a part of the Executive Board.

Many congratulations to Sgt. Mark Fernandez (1785), a dear friend and colleague, on his retirement from EPPD after 28 years of service. I had the honor to work many, many homicide cases with Sgt. Fernandez over the years and I can tell you as a crime scene supervisor and SWAT officer, his professionalism and dedication are second-to-none. Our community owes him a debt of gratitude. As Chief Pacillas said “his position can be filled, but he can never be replaced.”
