The El Paso Public Art Program works to enhance, promote, and define El Paso as a unique place, community, and destination in its placing of public artwork in community neighborhoods and public property.

Completed in 2020 by artists Mark Grieve and Ilana Spector through our program, “Hueco Tanks Archway” serves as a welcoming beacon to the Beast Urban Park, soon to be El Paso’s largest park, containing a water park, recreation center, natatorium, senior center and eventually trails, ball fields, and more. The archway features shapes inspired by native grasses and plants and the ancient pictographs found at Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site.
New install shot of the piece we commissioned for EPPD’s new regional command by artist Mark Aeling. It’s an eagle wing made up of thousands of silhouettes of birds native to the Chihuahuan desert.
Did you know a significant amount of our public art collection is sited in City parks? This sculpture, by artist Michael Stutz, "Jackrabbit Jumps the Love Ball" is located on the westside at Bartlett Park.
One of our largest projects to date pays homage to the strength of our rain during monsoon season!
Commissioned through our City of El Paso Public Art Program, "Aguacero"is a 45-ft abstract sculpture at the foot of the Paso del Norte International Bridge that depicts a storm cloud pouring down into the desert.
The work is by Sebastián, considered Mexico's foremost living sculptor known for monumental structures constructed in painted iron or concrete. You can see his sculptures throughout the world, from Mexico City to Osaka, Japan.

This week, City Council approved the 2024 Public Art Plan. To date, the program has completed 91 public art projects and engaged with 383 Artists, 78% of whom are local.

This art project commissioned through our program is located at Sun Metro's Upper Eastside Transfer Center. The Transfer Center was designed by In*Situ Architecture and just received the American Institute of Architect's El Paso Design Honor Award for its innovative design and contributing to a better, more sustainable future for El Paso!

Texas immersive artist heading to Iceland for residency Laura Turón hopes to incorporate Iceland's beautiful landscapes and colors into her immersive, geometric artwork.
El Paso-born artist Art Garcia's "Ferrocarrilero" is a public art piece playfully calling attention to the huge efforts of so many people, including Chinese immigrants in building the railroads that grew El Paso. Completed in 2013, the piece is sited on the Campbell Street Bataan Railway bridge traversing Downtown and even features a timeline only visible to pedestrians.

El Paso unveils new interactive website for community to explore public art The City of El Paso announced the creation of a new online catalog for the community to see and learn about the public art pieces in their neighborhood.
Local artist Chris Winterstein installing, “NOPAL!,” an original commission through the Public Art Program. The piece is sited in the revamped children’s section of the Main Library. Once reopened, the giant cactus will serve as a nook for story times and reading!

It's International Women's Day and we salute the women artists who have amplified the beauty of El Paso through public art commissions, like local artist Laura Turon, whose work is pictured here!

Local artist Rene Nevarez was commissioned by our program to design flooring for the Mission Valley’s Pavo Real Recreation Center as part of its renovation that is nearing completion.

A detail of "El Paso Port-All," a monumental mural on the Stanton International Bridge by New York-based, Juarez-born artist Werc commissioned by the City of El Paso Public Art Program! The mural celebrates the Borderlands and the rich cultural and economic exchange fostered by the bridges.

The intensity of the Southwest’s blue skies have been a continual source of inspiration for artists for centuries! We are thrilled that this new mural we commissioned through the public art program by local artist Ricardo Chavarria is being dedicated tomorrow at the El Paso International Airport.
