Guess where our Clinical Director was last night? Yep! recertification. It’s important that our and stay up to date on all of our trainings and certifications. We also received a Refresher Course that we will use at the clinic every season to keep up on these lifesaving skills. Remember,
We’re SO excited from the support that we get from our friends at Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute, where I received my training at the (Gillings School of Public Health) at . As we begin to start our 6th Cohort for the MVF Community-based Clinical Lactation Training Program, I am thankful for our partners and friends for supporting our mentees with their Core Curriculum for Interdisciplinary Lactation Care books, pens, markers, magnets and cellphone holders. We also get an invite each year to participate in their Spring workshop every January.
If you are considering lactation training at a Pathway 2 university program, you MUST consider this program. It was the very first accredited program and sets the standard for what clinical lactation training should look like. They start accepting applications in late winter/early spring. It will be the best decision (besides choosing our community-based program 🥰) that you will make to create an advanced level of success as a Lactation Consultant.
Thank you for all that you do and continue to do to help increase the number of Black and brown lactation consultants to serve our communities.💜💜💜
Day 7 of Black Breastfeeding Week we had the pleasure of working with to capture us in our 💞pink💞. As we close out the week, we are reminded of the beautiful joy there is in feeding our babies human milk as reflect on the parents in our community that aren’t given the chance for various reasons…..having providers assume that our parents will choose formula anyway so why bother or not having support from people that come from our community to not having the resources that are needed to work through the challenges of human milk feeding. We, at Momma’s Village Fayetteville will continue to support, educate and advocate for the Black families in our community to make the impact and change that we all wish to see. Happy Black Breastfeeding Week 2024. Until next, we will continue being here….DOING something.
We are taking a break to enjoy this long weekend to regroup, plant our fall veggies, make our , pack away our white clothes (because we’re Southern Girls🥰) and prepare the backyard for our fall hangout time. When we return we will be making two major announcements about hiring more doulas and community based training programs for late fall 2024 and spring 2025. Have a restful long weekend. ~Angela
This is happening TODAY and if this morning’s conversation with my daughters is any indication how the IG Live will go, it should be an interesting one.🤦🏾♀️😂🥴 Make plans to join us at 12noon.
Join us for a 3-generational conversation about what Black Breastfeeding has looked like in our family. This conversation will cover topics such as full-term breastfeeding, milksharing, feelings on breastfeeding each other’s children, what it was like for my son to be in a house full of breastfeeding women and what it is like for my daughters to have a Black IBCLC for as their mom.
We will also share our thoughts on this year’s theme “Listen Up! Reclaiming Our Narrative & Centering Our Stories for Breastfeeding Justice.
Tune in on this Friday, August 30th at 12PM EST on Instagram LIVE to listen to this very interesting, UNSCRIPTED conversation.
Day 3 Look where our Clinical Director, Angela, was tonight! It was like going home. The last time we participated in these classes was February, 2020….before the world shutdown and forever changed. I always enjoyed supporting the educational classes at the Cumberland County Department of Health. Childbirth education is important to Black breastfeeding because birth affects human milk feeding. So many great questions from the birthing person and their partners/support people. If you are pregnant and live in Fayetteville/Cumberland County and have a due date in November or afterwards, be on the lookout for the next series which will begin in October. You get four sessions, a gift certificate AND Baby Bucks that can be used in CCHD’s Baby Boutique. If you have any questions, schedule a FREE 15-minute doula consultation with us so that we can provide you with more information.

It seems like just when you’re trying to get dressed to get out the door….THEY wanna nurse!🥴 And if you are chronically late like I am, you don’t have time to stop what you’re doing. We learn how to do MANY things at the same time of breastfeeding. That’s why….my is getting things done while breastfeeding. What’s your superpower? Do you have a photo to share of your journey? National Breastfeeding Month is here. We love to call the month of August the Super Bowl of breastfeeding because it’s ALL about 🤱🏾🤱🏽🤱🏿
At Momma’s Village Fayetteville, we have spent the last 8 years in the heart of Downtown Fayetteville meeting the infant feeding needs of the families that we serve. Although we have grown to include maternal and infant health during pregnancy, birth and postpartum our foundation will always be grounded in breastfeeding support. Whether we are providing prenatal & postpartum visits, supporting a family struggling to provide milk through our MVF Community Human Milk Bank (the only one in the entire state of North Carolina) or through our monthly prenatal & postpartum support circles….our goal is to help Black families in nourish, sustain and thrive!
