🚨Rooms Needed🚨
The cold weather is coming for us over the next week! As always, there are people with kids, elderly individuals and those that are sick/recovering etc that we need to make sure are in a safe warm room. If possible, we try to put more than one person in a room to help get as many people out of the cold as possible.

We will start tomorrow night, so far the low is 33 (which is one degree above freezing so emergency shelter won't even be an option.) Then starting Monday the temps will drop below freezing for the next few nights. On those nights we will also offer rides to whoever is able to stay at the emergency shelters if they open.

For those who don't know, the only way that we can get motel rooms paid for is by our AMAZING Facebook followers donating to cover the cost. Literally every single dollar helps, if even a third of our followers donated $1 we could get so many rooms! If you're able to donate, here's how.....

Seth's Wish Day Center will be closed this week so our volunteers can enjoy family time, and we can concentrate efforts on our families that are in the motels and make sure they have what they need. We will see you all next week!

Another nonprofit reached out this morning for our help. They have a family at a motel that needs help staying in their room until payday on Wednesday. It is $120 for both nights. (Update....this one is covered. We're still in need for the moms below)

We also have 2 single mamas (one has 3 kids and the other has 1) that need some help covering a room together. They are hoping it will be more manageable to work together. Our hope is that we can get a week covered for them so they can continue to pay the discounted weekly rate when they're paid every week instead of nightly. The weekly rate where they are is $434, if they pay nightly it comes out to $504 for the week, so it saves a decent amount.

🚨🚨Help needed for family by 5:00 today🚨🚨
Our single mom with 2 daughters (3 and 12 years old) needs our help. If you don't remember their story, mom works full time at the gas station next door to the motel, and gets paid every 2 weeks. We are working on figuring out a more permanent housing solution for them, but we need to cover at least a few more nights at the motel while we work on that. Jay has also been buying and dropping off dinner and snacks/drinks to them every night.

We have an expectant mom in need of 1x maternity clothes. If you can help her out, things can be dropped off on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 2 at Seth's Wish 204 South Reilly Rd.

Does your family/business/church/group want to be a part of Seth's Wish Holiday Assistance Program? We have so many families signing up for assistance and it's time to start collecting new toys and gifts! You can pick a specific child, an entire family or just collect brand new items to fill in the gaps. We can supply ornaments with gift ideas if your group does an angel tree. Who's in?!?!?!

If your family is interested in applying for assistance with gifts for Christmas, applications must be filled out in person at the Seth's Wish Day Center (204 South Reilly Rd) during open hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-2. The last day to apply is Tuesday December 5th. If we are able to provide gifts, you must be able to pick them up during our open hours no later than Thursday December 21st.

We're open today (Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 10 to 2! Stop by the free store and do some shopping (for free of course lol). Linda's famous enchiladas are for lunch today, so come by early before they're gone. Free groceries while they last. See y'all soon!

Family #2 is a mom and her teenage daughter. They've been at one of the motels, and FINALLY got approved for permanent housing! This is so exciting! Unfortunately their move in date is not until November 14th and have had a hard time keeping up with the cost of their room.
Family #3 was very temporarily staying with a friend for a few nights until the friend's lease was up and they moved out of state. The last couple of nights were spent in their storage unit, but they've been told that's no longer allowed.

We need to make sure ALL of these families have a warm room TONIGHT! It's already cold and wet. If you can help, here is how to donate....

🚨 Emergency Need 🚨

We need 4t boy clothes today before 1 o'clock!

We have the best people that come in! These amazing gentlemen stay at the men's shelter. The 2 older gentlemen are at Seth's Wish EVERY DAY that we're open. They come on the bus, bring a list of what others at the shelter need, and load everything up to take onto the bus back. They help out in every way imaginable, even showing newbies the ropes when they come in for the first time for services.

Today these three low profile heroes painted new lines in the parking lot for us, and are coming back next week to put up the greenhouse and new compost bin out back by the garden. They deserve so much more than I can give them!

I've said it before...and I'll say it again...the ones we show up to help...are the first ones to jump in to help us at Seth's Wish. I cannot even find the words to explain how I feel about our ever growing Seth's Wish Family!

Alright Seth's Wish Warriors, we have a soon-to-be 20 year old mama in need. She is about to be 30 weeks and is having a sweet baby boy! She struggles financially, but has been able to maintain her bills and we have supplemented food, household stuff etc.

Her mom (who lives in another state) was all set to come throw her a baby shower so that they could hopefully get all the baby stuff she needs, but unfortunately her mom has become very ill with an infection from an injury. Now she requires surgery and cannot travel. Our new mama is DEVASTATED! She doesn't have any family in NC, so it's up to us to bring a little sunshine!

Update: We got her in a room pretty late last night. I can't even explain to you how sweet and thankful she is! And we both bonded over catching germs recently 🤣. She took a nice hot shower and I'm sure is still sleeping like a baby after some NyQuil and McDonald's. I was able to cover last night and tonight (Tuesday and Wednesday night) and will be dropping off some more supplies to her later tonight since Jay and I have to be downtown for a meeting this evening anyways. Anything else that comes in today I will use to get her another night because I know she can use it. It's not easy getting over all these germs, especially when you're elderly, and especially when your sleeping outside in a damp tent. "T" wanted me to thank everyone, I believe it went something like "tell everyone I love them and thank them for loving me and I don't know why they do if they don't know me but I'm glad they do....." and she went on and on but you get the picture 🤣

🚨Emergency Need🚨
I'm not sure how she does it, but we have a SuperMom with 5 kids that needs our help. She is super awesome and has been coming to the center for a while. She has two beautiful girls that are 15 and 5, and three adorable boys that are 16, 6 and 5.

Her food stamp recertification took longer than usual to go through, so for September, she made the choice to use her lot rent money to buy food instead, and will most likely be doing the same October 5th. Once you fall behind, it is almost impossible to catch up.

I've received an email from the receptionist at the company she pays her lot rent to, it needs to be completely caught up ($362 that was due September 5th plus $18.10 late fee and $362 that will be due October 5th) by the October 5th due date, or that will have to get out. So we need to come up with $742.10 as soon as we can!

Good Morning! Here are some updates for this weekend.....

1~Food is FLYING off the shelves! Whoever stocked us up for the week with a HUGE Amazon order, thank you so much! Groceries definitely have been our biggest need, and continue to be.

2~As far as our motel families go, one of our working moms needs some help covering about half of her $502 weekly room rate by 11 o'clock tomorrow. Housing is so close! The landlord is making some repairs and has said it will only be a week or 2 and then they can move!

We have 2 more moms that need help next week paying for motel rooms (both are part of the McKinney Vento program through their children's school and they are working with the school's social workers.)

3~Please remember, we only accept donations during our open hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 2. You cannot leave donations on the front porch when we are closed. We do not take clothing, blankets etc that are stained or ripped and they must be clean, and we cannot accept anything broken or anything that is missing parts. We do not accept used underwear or socks. We have a very small dumpster that only gets emptied every 2 weeks, and it gets filled so quickly with literal garbage that is dropped off as donations.

4~Keep an eye out for an event page coming soon! We will be hosting some Halloween fun for the kiddos next month!

Lots of important updates for you.......

1~ I have hundreds of messages that I am trying to get through today, so if I haven't gotten back to you, I am so sorry and thank you for being patient. Between Facebook messenger, emails, voicemails and texts we probably get anywhere from 50 to 100 messages a day and they pile up quickly. You will hear from us soon 😊

2~ We are DESPERATE for funds to cover hotel rooms. We also have a family (that we posted about a couple weeks ago) that just put in an application for permanent housing and there is an opening for a trailer! Hopefully that means in a week or so mom and her 2 kiddos will be moving OUT of the motel and into their own place! 🏠 After we helped cover the initial few days stay, mom has been able to keep up with paying the nightly cost of the room by door dashing. As we know so well, this makes it impossible to save for a security deposit, so they need our help. If you can donate, details on how are at the end of this post.

3~ A veteran that we helped get into housing months ago has made another HUGE step and got a car! 🚗 We are so thrilled for him! He will be getting the inspection next week and then tags etc. The windshield on the car is cracked BADLY. Allstate glass (who has helped us replace windows on cars and at the center) has always come through for us and we should know tomorrow what it will cost us to replace it for him. If you can donate, details on how are at the end of this post.

4~ Yes we will be open on our regular days and times next week. I'm thankful for everyone's patience and understanding last week while my family worked through something very difficult, and I'm so grateful for my Seth's Wish Family that rallied around to support us! 😁

5~ Our biggest need at the center is food for the pantry. Anything nonperishable like cereal, hamburger helper, canned veggies etc. 🛒 Please please please no more tomato soup, that's one thing we have plenty of lol.

We couldn't do any of this without our absolutely AMAZING Facebook followers! You guys and gals seriously rock! 🫵🥰
