Our 2nd graders were working hard in math today - using an open number line to compare and order numbers, composing and decomposing numbers, and adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers. Way to go, Claybon mathematicians!

Attendance Awareness Month is here!

Let's come together to highlight the importance of regular school attendance. Did you know that students who attend school consistently are more likely to achieve academic success and build strong social skills? 🏫✨

Families, teachers, and students – let's work hand in hand to ensure our children are present, engaged, and ready to learn every single day! Here are a few tips to promote good attendance:

Set a Routine: Establish a consistent sleep schedule and morning routine.
Create a Positive Environment: Encourage a love for learning at home.
Communicate: Keep an open line of communication between parents and teachers.
Support: Offer help when students face challenges that may hinder attendance.

Together, we can make a difference! Let's celebrate by committing to being present and making every school day count.

Our new counselor, Ms. McCardell, has been busy holding minute meetings with our students - her goal is to meet with every single one!! We appreciate how she prioritizes relationship building with our Claybon Cowboys, and desires to get to know each of our scholars so that she can be a safe space for them if ever they are in need. ❤️

We have experienced some really great learning this week at Claybon. Heggerty, expanded notation, context clues, small groups, and even a book tasting at Star-books in 3rd grade. Exposure to a variety of genres of literature to see what catches our eye ❤️ Have a great weekend, Cowboys!

Good afternoon, parents. It's been another great day. As we near dismissal, please remember the following:

1. Parents picking up their students in the car lanes - have your car tags on the dash and visible as you pull through the car rider lanes. Please do not put them away until after you exit the Claybon property.
2. Please DO NOT get out of your car, unless you are parked in the parking lot. Parents should remain in their cars throughout the entirety of the car rider line. This ensures the safety of our parents, as well as helps our car lanes move efficiently.
3. Please DO NOT come up to the front doors during dismissal. Students are dismissed from the back (bus riders), side doors (walkers) and front doors (car riders). Car riders are released to parents who are in vehicles. If you would like to pick up your child and you are not in a vehicle, please plan to do that at the grassy area reserved for walker students.

Our goal always is student and staff safety. Thank you for helping us get all of our Claybon Cowboys home safely.

It was a magical ‘day one’ here at Claybon Elementary! We can’t wait to do it again tomorrow!

08/14/2024

We are having a great first day here at Claybon! Pics are coming soon - stay tuned!

As we prepare for afternoon dismissal, please remember the following:

If your students will be car riders, we ask all pre-k and kindergarten parents to utilize the inside lane. This will ensure our littlest Cowboys are never crossing to/from the exterior lane. All parents without pre-k and kindergarten students should utilize the exterior lane. Please make sure you have your car tags visible on your dash when picking up your child(ren) in the car rider lanes.

Bus transportation may also be delayed the first several days of school. Please utilize the SmartTag app for updates. If your student is in kindergarten or 1st grade, a guardian must be at the bus stop in order for the student to be released from the bus. If nobody is there, the student will be brought back to campus and a guardian will need to pick them up here.

Parents of walkers - we will release all walkers in grades 2-4 without a parent. Pre-K, Kinder, and 1st grade students will need to be picked up by a parent at the grassy area outside of the walker door. Siblings in 3rd and 4th grade can walk with our kinder/1st grade students, with parent permission.

Drive safely and expect some slowdowns for the first few days. Thank you for your patience and grace as we prioritize student and staff safety at all times.

Tomorrow is the first day of a new school year and we are so ready to welcome our Claybon Cowboys in the morning. We’ve included the maps for our first day arrival and dismissal locations. Please drive safely and expect some slowdowns for the first few days. Thank you for your patience and grace as we prioritize student and staff safety at all times.

If your students will be car riders, we ask all pre-k and kindergarten parents to utilize the inside lane for drop off and pick up. This will ensure our littlest Cowboys are never crossing to/from the exterior lane. All parents without pre-k and kindergarten students should utilize the exterior lane for drop off and pick up. Please make sure you have your car tags visible on your dash when picking up your child(ren) in the car rider lanes.

**On the first day only, pre-k and kindergarten students will enter in the morning through the back cafeteria doors (see map).

We are ready to this year!

On Friday, our PTO hosted a luncheon and raffle for our Claybon staff. Our staff received raffle tickets and were able to place them in buckets for items that they were interested in (classroom supplies, gift cards, and more). Many of our staff members won some great prizes. We also enjoyed delicious street tacos from Abuelito’s. Thank you to our amazing PTO for your continuous support of our teachers and students!
