Pleasure to serve alongside Judy Center Early Learning Hub at Lincoln Elementary at the Asbury Block Party Community Event in Frederick on Saturday. So good to connect with Lincoln students, old and young, and to share the Lincoln Love!! We gave away t-shirts, books, bracelets and smiles! We're looking forward to welcoming everyone back exactly ONE MONTH from today!! 💙💛

Our CommUNITY Market Day is one week from today! Join us on Thursday, July 18th from 1 - 3pm in the gym. We'll have over a dozen local agencies on site, a food drop, raffle prizes and FREE academic workbooks for students. Hope to see you there 💙💛

We are so thankful to have Mr. "OG" as one of our outstanding volunteers!! Some volunteers shy away from working with 5th graders, but not Fred! His work with them is so impactful and his overall support of our school is unmatched. Much Lincoln Love!!

At Wednesday's meeting, Fred Genau was awarded one of our club's highest awards, the Chris Judd Service Above Self Award.

Fred's tireless work with Lincoln Elementary has changed the trajectory for countless students. You'll never meet a better cheerleader, coach and mentor than Fred when it comes to bettering the outcomes of kids and their education.

The award is named after former RCCC Member Chris Judd. Chris Judd succumbed to mesothelioma in 2015. Chris made an impact in all that he did, and our club misses him dearly. To know Chris was to love him. This award created in his honor is a small token of our appreciation and remembrance of such an inspirational person, who we were lucky enough to claim as a member of the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek.

"Upon retirement in 2004, Chris began working with the children at Lincoln Elementary School, spending eight years assisting in the third grade until he was ‘demoted’ to the second. At Lincoln, he was involved in setting up The Running Club, The Reading Club, The Butterfly Garden, and the Parents’ Library. This work was organized via the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek where Chris was a Paul Harris fellow. Also through Rotary, he was project manager for the renovation of the Baker Park band shell. A bench there recognizes his efforts. Chris was a master gardener and became involved with raising worms for composting and went to elementary schools to demonstrate how effective they can be in aerating soil. The children enjoyed his enthusiasm and dedication. He was also a longtime supporter of the improvements to Waterford Park. He was an opponent of the proposed Frederick County incinerator; he attended public meetings and actively campaigned against it; he lived to see it defeated."

Chris is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn, and his three children: Jennifer, her husband Doug, and their three children Isabella, Kai and Nicky; Jason, his wife Pouv, and their two children Mehta and Ruby; and Michael, his wife Ashley, and their son Wyatt.

Reminder - tomorrow (June 7th) is the last day of school for students. We can't believe this school year is already over!!

REMINDER: FCPS has announced Friday, June 7 will be the last day of school for students in the 2023-24 school year. Schools will be closing 2-hours early for students on Friday, June 7.

The original last day of school for students in 2023-24 was Wednesday, June 5. But FCPS closed schools for two days this year due to inclement weather:

⭐️Friday, January 19
⭐️Tuesday, February 13

Those closure dates make Thursday, June 6 and Friday, June 7 inclement weather make-up days to ensure FCPS completes 180 days of instruction as mandated by the Maryland State Department of Education.

In the print calendar handbook sent home to families, it lists Wednesday, June 5, as a 2-hour early dismissal date. With these adjustments to the calendar, there is no longer a 2-hour early dismissal on Wednesday, June 5.

The last day of school for teachers is Monday, June 10. 10-month staff with questions about their last day to report should contact their supervisors.

The week of June 10 will also be the first day of the adjusted summer work schedule for FCPS staff. Offices work on an amended schedule during the summer and are closed on Fridays.

Congratulations to our Lincoln team for competing in the Girls on the Run Spring 5K- Frederick County event this morning at Hood College! We love seeing our Panthers out in the commUNITY!! A special thanks to Mrs. Galaviz, Mrs. Rudman, Ms. Jojo, Mrs. Stanciu, Ms. Iorio and Ms. Barron for getting out there and running alongside! 💙💛

We realize many FCPS Maryland schools have a Field Day toward the end of the year, but we don't know of any that include the principal in a Jefferson Rentals LLC dunk tank!! Check out Mr. Rhodes living it up and feeling the Lincoln love!! 💙💛

WOW!! Our Career Day on Friday was a HUGE hit! We're thrilled that so many of Frederick's professionals could join us! There were technicians, architects, bankers, nurses, police officers, EMTs, college professors, non profit directors and more! Special shout out to our counselors, Ms. Dodson and Ms. Ellis, for coordinating everything. We're going to make this an annual event 💙💛

We're proud to be one of the many groups represented at the annual "Bring a Broom" cleanup event in downtown Frederick over the weekend! Check out students, staff and parents from our Leadership Club!!

Mrs. L's 4th and 5th grade chorus had the honor of starting the Arbor Day ceremony, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the South Frederick arboretum. Well done, Panthers! You all sounded GREAT!!

Our PreK students have had a GREAT few days! First, they got to make bread with Loaves of Fun and then a field trip to the Catoctin Zoo and Wildlife Preserve! I wonder what those animals thought when they saw all our Lincoln Panthers?!

And the wins for Lincoln keep on coming!! Our very own kindergarten teacher, Rebecca Delp, is one of the top five finalists for the FCPS Teacher of The Year award!!!!!!

Frederick County Public Schools is thrilled to announce the five Frederick County Public Schools teachers that are advancing as finalists for the 2024-25 FCPS Teacher of the Year Award, the county's most prestigious honor given annually to an educator.
