Congrats to Beze N. from CTC's Criminal Justice program for winning the 2023 Frederick Rotary Club’s 4 Way Speech Contest. Beze won the $500 cash prize & will go on to the District Finals competition. The first-place prize for that contest is $1500-Good luck Beze!

CTC carpentry students begin to clean and prepare for final inspections and sale.

Congrats to Damaris Rivera; a winner of the CTE Award for 2022. A senior at TJHS, she is a 3rd year student who has thrived in the Digital Design program and is instrumental in the creation & ex*****on of many designs for CTC and FCPS entities.

Congrats to Stephen Rollins; a winner of the CTE Award for 2022. Stephen Rollins is a senior at THS. He will be going to Stevenson University for Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics and he would like to work in the security field.

Congrats to Ashley Nalborczyk; a winner of the CTE Award for 2022. After earning her CNA/GNA & working at a cardiology practice she's currently completing her EMT cert. She'll pursue a nursing degree & continue to volunteer at Myersville Fire Dept.

All Around Plumbing Helps Big Time!

Mr. Brendan Madden and his All Around Plumbing, Inc. crew recently helped the plumbing and HVAC students meet their inspection deadline. With the ductwork and water systems finished, the plumbing and HVAC students got some colossal help with the Drain, Waste, and Vent (DWV) system from All Around.

With the interior systems now in place, the house can be insulated, drywalled, and painted. All Around’s help was a huge boost and will enable the project to get completed on time so that the Student House can be put on the market.

The students staged this photo at the Student House to reflect their appreciation of All Around Plumbing and to illustrate how gigantic of an impact their support makes. Mr. Madden also serves on the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) which shepherds the plumbing and HVAC program through new industry standards and techniques.

Located at 12 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, Maryland, the current Student House is the 33rd home built by CTC students. The Student House Project is completely funded through the efforts of the Frederick County Student Construction Trades Foundation, Inc. - a 501(3)c non-profit. Each House Project is typically completed over two school years. Students complete 85-90% of all work with the remaining completed by our industry partners and contributors.

The FCPS Career and Technology Center (CTC), part of the Frederick County Public Schools system, is offering a "Shadowing" experience for prospective students.

With more than 24 programs to choose from, students have the opportunity to gain college and career experience in a variety of areas.

They can earn college credits as well as valuable industry certifications and licenses through a CTC program.

CTC programs are taught in half-day blocks, and students attend their high school for the other half of the school day.

Shadowing a CTC program is the first step in the application process and is open to students in grades 9-11.

Students may shadow and apply to up to two programs.

Interested students can request a shadow from the CTC website www.careertech.net.
Log In: FCPS Student User ID (do not add .fcps.org) & Password.

Shadowing will be open November 2, 2021 - February 24, 2022.

Application deadline: March 4, 2022.

Over the past couple weeks we visited Frederick High School to speak with the freshmen & sophomores about all that Career & Technology Center has to offer FCPS Maryland high school students. Yesterday, this culminated in a presentation and Q&A session with our EL Specialist, Mrs Leida Pimentel.
