Dr. Nupur Hajela was invited to attend the international telehealth conference at the University of California, Berkely in August. She participated in a podium presentation and was on the panel - 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮. After 3 long years, Fresno State’s Geriatric Wellness Clinic is back in action!!🎬 Fresno State’s third year physical therapy students are offering 2 free physical therapy sessions for middle and older aged adults. The purpose of this clinic is to provide physical therapy assessment, evaluation and a home exercise plan for individuals that are well, as well as those who may suffer from pain or an inability to perform activities of interest. Being proactive about health is an important first step to active, healthy aging! Evaluations will include:

💪 Assessment of multiple body systems including, but not limited to, the musculoskeletal system (bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments),
✅ Nervous system (balance, vision, sensation)
❤️ Cardiovascular system (heart, circulation, and endurance)
☑️ The integumentary system (skin)
💊 Review of medications

Clients will be provided with information to maximize function/sport, information to minimize injury risk, a home exercise program, and information that will facilitate the maintenance of a healthy body. When I asked, What is your favorite PT school memory? Delia replied: My favorite memory was planning trips during class or during study sessions with my classmates. Although, we followed through with some trips. Most of our "trips" were canceled after seeing the plane ticket cost or after reviewing the syllabus schedule, so they remained as mental getaways, which served just as great of a purpose!

Delia plans to practice in pediatrics.

When I asked, What is your favorite PT school memory? Mai replied: My favorite memory in PT school was when I took a spontaneous trip to the beach with my best friends right before our oral defense. We learned a big lesson school never taught us: "Even though we get so busy climbing a mountain, we have to look up and enjoy the view."

Mai hopes hope to find a job in the Central Valley to help the community that she was raised in.

When I asked, What is your favorite PT school memory? Charlotte replied: My favorite PT school memory would have to be all of the life-long friends I made during my time in this program, but also all of the times I went to Dr. Roos’ office to get my daily fix of fruit snacks!

When I asked, What is your favorite PT school memory? Kaila replied: Some of my favorite memories are when our cohort would play different sports/games in between our labs during our spring semester first year because we finally got to be together in-person and not be in as many Zoom classes. Also, I enjoyed going out to celebrate big milestones with my girls and the rest of the cohort.

Kaila hopes to work in OP ortho or IP/OP neuro after graduation.

When I asked, What is your favorite PT school memory? Joseph replied: My favorite PT memory is all the jokes and laughs with classmates and professors during classes.

Joseph will be will be working at an outpatient orthopedics clinic for TERRIO Physical Therapy in the Bakersfield area. .

When I asked, What is your favorite PT school memory? Thalia replied: My favorite PT memory is presenting my research at CSM with my chair, Dr. Sarmento, and seeing all my hard from these last 3 years come into fruition

When I asked, What is your favorite PT school memory? Alexa replied: My favorite PT memory was when we were finally able to gather safely post-COVID and we all went to Hobbs Grove together for Halloween!

When I asked, What is your favorite PT school memory? Kaitlyn replied: My favorite PT memory was from late nights studying to celebrating birthdays and holidays, I’m grateful for the countless memories made with friends who are outgoing and kind!

Kaitlyn is interested in practicing in Outpatient Ortho after graduation.

When I asked, What is your favorite PT school memory? Larissa replied: My favorite PT memory was getting to celebrate all of the small accomplishments throughout these 3 years with the friends I've made in PT school that finally led to this moment!

Larissa will be working at Barrows Physical Therapy where she will treat a mixed population (ortho, neuro, and pediatrics)
