A Secular Voice in the Valley

The public voices that dominate the San Joaquin Valley are overwhelmingly religious in nature. This can be alienating to those people who belong to a minority religion or to no religion at all.

There are 4 million people in the San Joaquin Valley. According to PEW Research studies, at least a quarter million of these people are atheist or agnostic. There are over 750,000 in the valley who are unaffiliated with any religion.

And yet, our leaders ignore us and exclude us at every opportunity.

CVAAS strives to be a “Secular Voice in the Valley.” We promote secular viewpoints in public discourse, educate the public on the use of rational scientific inquiry and positive secular philosophy, promote the First Amendment guarantee of separation of state and church, urge camaraderie and cooperation among the secular community and their supporters, and encourage joining or forming secular organizations.

We follow the ACES secular nonprofit model - Activism, Community, Education, and Service. To follow this we confront church and state entanglement, we create events for the secular community, we educate the public on topics of science and critical thinking, and we serve the public through volunteering and giving.
