Feelings of guilt are inevitable during caregiving. We want to be in so many places at once and there just isn't enough of us to go around. You are doing the best you can in a tough situation. You are enough. When the feelings of guilt surface, replace them with grace.

This sums up one of the many ways I found myself thinking about dementia while I cared for my dad. There were so many things I couldn't fix, but I could work to make things as good as they could be, by creating opportunities for joy, laughter, and gratitude. To be clear, those positive moments didn't fix anything either... They simply made what was less unbearable.

Appalachian Caregivers Connect - Spring Event 🌼
This amazing group of family caregivers kicked off the spring season with fellowship, crafts, food, and fun! 💛
Appalachian Caregivers Connect is a quarterly event/meeting hosted by the Family Caregiver Advocate team to provide caregivers with not only a much needed break, but also: peer support, love, encouragement, fun, and laughter! 😊
We are excited to invite our family caregivers to our spring Caregivers Connect Meeting! (It's our support group made fun!)

When we suspect someone we care about needs a warm hug and they aren’t physically near us giving them warm words can be akin to a hug💕
Dementia can be isolating and leave those with the disease and their caretakers drained mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Church at The Mill seeks to come alongside those effected by these diseases to provide a space to gather together in Christ-like community.
We have two separate upcoming events to choose from:
👉 Memory Cafes are comfortable social gatherings that allow those experiencing memory loss to connect, socialize and encourage one another. Caregivers are welcome. The next event is on Saturday, January 13th at 10:00 AM at the Goodtree Café at Central Campus. This event is free, and the café will be open. 👉 Our first Dementia Caregivers Group will be held on Thursday, February 1 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel at Central Campus. This event is a monthly gathering to embrace caregivers supporting loved ones navigating dementia. Come together for a time of solace, shared prayers, and a devotion.
