This year our group The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary of Greenville, SC was able to provide several grants to different local ministries of The Salvation Army of the Carolinas/The Salvation Army USA.
One of those groups was The Salvation Army of Oconee County, SC. By utilizing our grant, they were able to provide small activity kits to the local emergency room at Prisma's Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca. These kits are used by staff and nurses to distract children being treated in the ER or who are there with a family member being treated.
We are so happy to have been able to assist them with this amazing gift to their community, and look forward to being able to continue to provide more grants in the future!
Our members and guests had a wonderful time at our June meeting & social, hosted by President Sarah Byars at her beautiful home! We welcomed several new members, discussed upcoming events, and had a drawing for a beautiful hydrangea plant! After the meeting we enjoyed some amazing food, conversation, and watching the BMW Celebrity Pro-Am! ⛳️
Our May meeting was fabulous! We heard from guest speakers Majors Jay and Jamie Spalding, the Divisional Youth Leaders for The Salvation Army. They spoke to us about Camp Walter Johnson, where they spend their summers. Our members also generously donated many items for the children attending the camp this summer!
We have so many service opportunities and events coming up… Won’t you join us? Feel free to message us here to learn more about us and what we do!

Last week we had the privilege of hearing from Baxter Wynn, at our January meeting. He gave his moving presentation entitled “Two Sons of Atlanta”, about Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lester Maddox, who was the Governor of Georgia from 1967-1971. If you ever have the opportunity to hear him give this speech in person, you definitely should!
Stay tuned to learn about the great speakers we have lined up for our future meetings…we welcome anyone interested in hearing our speakers and learning more about our organization!
We hope you are all able to find ways to honor and remember the wonderful life of MLK Jr. today. We of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary celebrate him and all that he did in giving his life to serve others and fight for equality.
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”
