In the early morning hours on Saturday August 24th, a stolen Cadillac sedan entered our jurisdiction from Stratford CT. Patrol officers spotted the vehicle at the Mobile Station in town and attempted to apprehend the suspects. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.

GPD Officers successfully disabled the vehicle using a tire deflation device and the four suspects then initiated a foot pursuit. Three of the suspects were quickly apprehended, with one managing to escape. Thankfully, despite a minor injury, a Greenwich Sergeant has been treated and released from the hospital.

The suspects have been identified as Anthony Palacios (20 years of age) from Waterbury, along with two juveniles from Stamford(17 years old) and Bridgeport (16 years old). Palacios remains in custody after being unable to post his bond, while the juveniles were issued misdemeanor summonses with court dates.

We want to thank our officers for their swift actions in apprehending these suspects and ensuring the safety of our community. Let's continue to work together to keep our neighborhoods safe. ๐Ÿš”

On 7/19/24 at approximately 8:40am, the Greenwich Police and Greenwich Emergency Medical Serviceโ€™s responded to the off-ramp of I-95 at exit 2 on report of a female in labor.
Upon arrival, Officer Weinstock, made contact with a pregnant female and her husband, who related that the baby was not due for another 3 weeks but that she was having abdominal pain, and they were on the way to Stamford Hospital for a pre-natal checkup.
According to the couple, while in route, they hit a pothole on the highway and got two flat tires.
They called 911 when the abdominal pain worsened, and she felt that she was in labor.
The pregnant female continued to have contractions and Officer Weinstock advised her to push on the next contraction after the babyโ€™s head began to crown. Upon her next contraction, Officer Weinstock assisted her with delivering a baby boy. The child began crying and was held safely until the arrival of medic personnel a few minutes later.
GEMS personnel took over medical care of the baby boy and mother. They were transported to Greenwich Hospital where they continued to receive post-birth treatment.

Chief Heavey and Officer Weinstock visited the family where they met baby James Vincent Sanford, a healthy baby boy. Congratulations to the family and wishing them many years of health.

Officer Weinstock received Officer of the Month for his great work on the call. Congratulations again!

Yesterday, the Greenwich Police Department, Greenwich Emergency Medical Service, and the Greenwich Fire Department came together for a training exercise to prepare for any potential emergencies that may arise in our community.

In a mock Active Shooter scenario, all three first responder agencies worked in unison to triage patients and safely remove them from harms way. It was a great opportunity for the agencies to practice radio communications, identify respective roles, and learn how to effectively collaborate in a high-stress environment.

This is the third year that the Town of Greenwich First Responders have conducted these group drills, and it has been incredibly beneficial. We are committed to working together to provide excellent service to the residents of Greenwich. ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿš’
