Hey Friends! Join us this afternoon at the annual Purdue Northwest Juneteenth Celebration from 3pm - 6pm in and around the SULB Plaza and Field. The celebration will include live entertainment, food, games, giveaways, and much more! This will be an excellent opportunity to join together and celebrate the rich heritage and contributions of African Americans.

This is a neighbor- and family-friendly event with something for all ages.

There will be opportunities to take AC breaks in the SULB building, where bingo will be held. You also can bring your own folding chair to sit in the shade, and our set-up crew is working hard to place picnic tables in shady areas as well. Water and cooling refreshments will be provided, while supplies last. Plan ahead and come early!!

Earlier this month, PNW students traveled to Costa Rica with Purdue University Northwest-College of Nursing. Once in Costa Rica the students immersed themselves in local culture while learning about global health policies, provided health education and nursing care to men, women, and children in need, and also found time to have a little fun with cultural activities and excursions. Happy Asian American & Pacific Islander Month! Last month we were part of the Cultural Heritage Celebrations Committee (CHCC) tasting event to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month (a little early) with students in Purdue University Northwest Housing and across campus.

Shout-outs to CHCC for supporting this event, the incredible RA team for involving their residents and helping at the event, the Chinese Student Association for bringing calligraphy and chopsticks activities, and last but not least, Asian Kitchen in Hammond for catering the most excellent Asian dishes representing China, Thailand, Mongolia, and Vietnam!

Fun was had by all, new tastes were tasted and enjoyed, and friendships were made!

Last week, our Hospitality & Tourism Management program embarked on an educational cruise to the Bahamas! Shout-out to Clinical Professor Pitparnee Stompor for leading our students on an experiential learning adventure of a lifetime! That's Powering Onward around the globe!
