Does Online therapy really work?
Personally, I’m a huge fan of most things virtual... banking, Dr. appointments, conferences, trainings, shopping for most things... I started offering online counseling in 2017 and immediately loved it. Since the pandemic started and everything switched to virtual, I’m even more of a fan.
In this blog post I write about whether Online/Virtual counseling really works and what some benefits are.
What do you like most about virtual services?

Yay! My website is live!
It’s been so fun working on all the pieces of my business and getting it up and running. Don’t ever let any one ever discourage you from pursuing your dreams... also don’t let the fear of big complicated things hold you back... take it one step at a time. You can do hard, technical, complicated things!
Also you need a village... I’m so thankful for part of my village... my friend Claire at Hoots Digital Marketing for helping to get this set up.

Don’t shoot for the stars… unless you work for NASA🚀 which most of us don’t.  I sure sound like a Debbie downer, but really I want to talk about how you can set goals that really work for you!

⭐As you look at setting goals for 2021 ask yourself are my goals attainable? You can set goals that sound amazing and high achieving, like reaching for the stars… but if they aren’t achievable and you dont work for NASA… what’s the point?

⭐As you think about your goals and go about achieving them, determine the small realistic steps you can take toward those goals.
🚀What small compounding changes do you need to consistently make in order to accomplish your long term goals?
🚀What habits do you need to form to become the type of person who accomplishes those goals?

⭐For example, if my goal is to work for NASA, then first, I likely need to be an A student in order to get into a degree program that would set me up for a NASA career …
so what are some habits I need to start building…
1. Go to class
2. Pay attention in class,
3. Keep track of assignments,
4. Actually do my assignments
5. Study for tests… etc.
There are plenty of smaller steps within each one of those that we could break down…

⭐Most people give up on their new year goals because they set ones that are too out of reach which feels discouraging. So start small, even if it feels ridiculously small, and be consistent!

Happy New Year! 🎉🎆🎉
I think we are all looking forward to a New Year, fresh start... reset to 2020? There is nothing magical about a new year in itself... so what will you do differently this year?
What changes will you bring to your life that are within your control?

12/31/2020

2020 was quite the year... there was a lot of difficulty, loss, and pain. But it doesn’t have to be in vain! A Growth mindset pushes us to grow, improve and become stronger because of all the hard things we went through this year.
Don’t let all the struggle of 2020 be in vain, what are your takeaways? How are you better because of what you went through?

Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁Love my new Logo designed by Claire Hoots!
If you know me well… you know I love plants! ...as in a bit obsessive "love plants" 😄 Thankfully, I've "developed" a green thumb… or rather learned to identify their needs, care for them, and give them what they need to Grow and Flourish… and yes, I definitely talk to my plants! 🤣
Caring for plants is like the therapy process… we learn to take a pause and use mindfulness to tune in to what we need, care for and love ourselves, and make a plan for personal Growth and Flourishing into who we are meant to be.
Are you ready to start your journey of growth? 🌱➡️🌳

Welcome to my page Amy Neal Counseling! I offer online individual counseling for Adolescents 13 and older (with guardian consent) and Adults of all ages.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and work with clients from all over the state.* I have been in practice since 2014 in a variety of settings including: office-based therapy, teletherapy, in-home therapy, and school-based therapy.

My specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, life transitions, and cross-cultural adjustment. I offer Christian counseling and can integrate Biblical foundations and truths for those who find this approach helpful.
I use an Integrative therapeutic model, meaning I combine strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, EMDR, and Family Systems. No two people are exactly alike and their experiences are certainly not alike so I use a combination of these strategies to tailor therapy to meet your needs and help you make progress to Grow and Flourish into who you are meant to be.

I offer a free 15 minute consultation during which I will share more in detail about the therapy process and discuss whether we would be a good fit in working together.

If it is determined during the consultation that we would be a good fit, we would then schedule your initial intake session. This usually lasts about 50 minutes and we go over what has brought you to therapy, symptoms, struggles, and how various aspects of your life have been affected. We will talk about how the counseling process can help you to grow in all areas of your life.

Subsequent session will be either weekly or every two weeks, depending on scheduling needs. Usually as you begin making progress toward your goals, sessions are scheduled farther apart to give you more time between sessions to practice and use the skills we discuss in therapy. Subsequent sessions are typically 45 to 50 minutes long.

Call me at (704) 286-6608 to schedule your 15 minute consultation. I have availability throughout the week and availability on weekends.

*Due to licensure restrictions, I am not able to offer counseling to those residing outside of the state of NC at this time.
