Creative Change Counseling held our Christian Jackson Memorial Scholarship awards party this weekend.
The winner from NC is Marvin Duke II, who will be attending NC State University with plans to become a history professor.
Marvin has already put forth tremendous effort, graduating with his high school diploma and 2 year associates degree, at the same time!
This was his first visit to New Jersey and his first airline flight.
The Christian Jackson Memorial Scholarship Program is an annual award, and we look forward to helping many more NC students year after year.
Congratulations, Marvin! 🎊

On June 19, 1865, nearly 2 years after President Lincoln emancipated enslaved Africans in America, Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas with news of freedom. More than 250,000 African Americans embraced their newly acquired freedom, the last remaining slaves to be freed.
